AACJ Posted May 4, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 4, 2005 We leave next week for Bermuda out of Norfolk and have been reading of the rough seas out of Bayonne. Does anyone know if the same is true out of Norfolk? We just came into Bermuda a few days ago on the Horizon (out of Norfolk) and it was a rough ride the first night!! The second day and night was not bad at all, we got used to the seas and took our medicine. I have heard that the ride back is better as we are going WITH the wind instead of against it. art

AACJ Posted May 4, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 4, 2005 Hi, Art. Welcome back! Other than a little pitch and yaw, how was it? I am still in Bermuda, actually in an internet cafe in Hamilton while my wife is taking a nap. Well, for the money I spent on my cabin on the 4th deck (the low rent district for the cabins with windows) I don't feel I got my moneys worth. The service is great but the ship shows it age. The food doesn't taste any if at all much better than the Carnival we went on a few years ago. Bermuda on the other hand is great! The buses have plusses and minuses.......I hate to wait, and hate the crowd when coming/going to a beach.... I have to run as my timer is running out on my internet usage....I will probably log on tomorow and let you know how the street party went. Chichi Posted May 4, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 4, 2005 AACJ, I live in Bon Air and will be departing on May 7. Say hello to Carol, aka 867 for me. :D Who are the Social Hostess, the Chief Engineer, and the Capt.'s Club Hostess, her desk is in front of the casino? No big news here at home, Midlothian still there. Thanks Bob (X-109)
AACJ Posted May 9, 2005 #6 Share Posted May 9, 2005 AACJ, I live in Bon Air and will be departing on May 7. Thanks Bob (X-109) Bob, I can't honestly tell you who those people were, I know the lady whose desk in front of the casino was Ogla, but I don't think she was the future cruise sales lady. I can tell you the ride back was much worse than the one getting there, we hit a cold front a few hours after leaving Bermuda and it went downhill from there. I, of course, enjoyed watching the waves slaming into the ship from my stateroom window, we were on the 4th deck, the low rent deck for ocean views, so I got some good close up's of them. In fact, I was sitting on the window ledge with the video camera looking for one of those nice 70 footers, but they never showed up. Oh, I almost forgot, a few hours after leaving Bermuda, my wife screamed as she was looking out to the ocean, she had seen a WHALE! I pulled the video camera out but only was able to get the whale breathing, blowing water out his spout, but still it's something to see. art

basil1 Posted May 15, 2005 #8 Share Posted May 15, 2005 I just returned from Bermuda via Horizon today. The seas were a little rough, but not too bad. I was on deck 4 and saw a spray come up to my port hole several times. It was kind of cool!;)
Host Kewlguy Posted May 15, 2005 #9 Share Posted May 15, 2005 Expect rough seas anytime you cruise to Bermuda. If you have smooth sailing consider yourself fortunate. I have cruised to Bermuda four times in the last twelve months and have had rough seas every time. The tropical storm last 10/23 on the Horizon was the worst though.
