Casual Restaurant in New Orleans

There will be four of us in New Orleans the night before our cruise. Me, 30 year old female and my 18 year old neice (graduation cruise) and my sister and her husband (28 & 30). I'm having enough trouble getting my sister to dress for dinner on the cruise, so I'm thinking we need a good casual restaurant for New Orleans. We have hotel reservations at the La Quinta French Quarter. Any suggestions? What about lunch suggestions for the Monday after our cruise before we fly out?

Thanks,

Shannon

Hi Shannon,

The Red Fish Grill on Bourbon would be great for dinner.

They are part of the Brennan family, have great food and you don't have to dress up. It's one of our favorite places to eat whenever we come into the city. :) It's only a short walk from your hotel.

Pierre Masperos in the French Quarter is a pretty cool place. It is located on Jackson Square. I think you will like it.

Was told that Mother's is an overpriced tourist trap

Mother's is overpriced. Downtown business.people will eat lunch there. They cater to the tourist that have heard of it through very good marketing on their part. The owners claim to fame is the "secret reciepe" for the glaze he uses for the baked ham he got when he bought the restaurant from the original owners. The place just isn't near as good as it used to be.

Will we need a reservation here?[/quotE

Shannon,

They don't take reservations but be prepared to wait in line outside depending on the time of day or night and how many visitors we have in town. We went by there yesterday afternoon and the line wasn't too, too long. They have good food at reasonable prices.
