Sargent_Schultz Posted May 6, 2012 #26 Share Posted May 6, 2012 TSA locks don't solve my paranoid has someone been through my undies thing - cause you can't tell if they opened them or not. For a little bit more $, you can get locks that indicate if TSA used their key to open. But those are of no use on a cruise ship.
bungee Posted May 6, 2012 #27 Share Posted May 6, 2012 TSA locks don't solve my paranoid has someone been through my undies thing - cause you can't tell if they opened them or not. We were randomly chosen for a TSA check on our cruise to Alaska. You can tell that someone has been in your suitcase. Plus TSA leaves a sheet of paper in the suitcase telling you that you participated in a TSA check.
CRUISE4JANE Posted May 6, 2012 #28 Share Posted May 6, 2012 I would think if you lock your luggage it would raise suspicion. Does it?
sunlover2 Posted May 6, 2012 #29 Share Posted May 6, 2012 So it sounds like it is NOT Carnival that checks for booze, but port authorities and from I am reading also sounds like they don't have tools to open TSA locks.
Sargent_Schultz Posted May 6, 2012 #30 Share Posted May 6, 2012 It's not port authorities, it is the low bidder security people hired to screen the luggage. They don't have the authority to open or break locks.

I always use the TSA locks, but I've never heard of the ones you reference. Where do you find them?
Paul's_wife Posted May 6, 2012 #33 Share Posted May 6, 2012 I bought my TSA locks thru Ebay. They were pretty cheap. There's a little dot on the bottom that changes from red to green when opened.
