maja Posted June 20, 2004 #1 Share Posted June 20, 2004 Don't know if this something new or that I just happened to get "lucky" at check in, but I sailed on the Dawn this past week and had a problem with my ID. I brought my birth certificate & photo drivers license for proof. The agent wanted to see my marriage license since the last name was different. I've been on 30 or so cruises and have never been asked for this before. I was able to board but they used my maiden name from that point on. Next time I'll bring the passport. blandadi Posted June 21, 2004 #2 Share Posted June 21, 2004 We just went on Carnival Legend in May and had to have marriage license because of different names otherwise they use your maiden name with is tough when you have a child in the kid's program. It is something very new from Homeland Security. But you will always need it from now on or a passport instead. Eventually they will want passports on all cruises. djmpj Posted June 22, 2004 #5 Share Posted June 22, 2004 Same thing happened to me at DMV.. I was just renewing my license in the same state where I've always lived. Not only did they require my marriage certificate (been married for 12 years) but they would not accept a copy... had to have the raised seal. Well, when I got married my town didn't put a raised seal on the certificates so I had to order a new one before I could renew my driver's license. I'm not complaining, I understand the extra precautions. Just telling you because you might need the raised seal too.
