blossom52 Posted May 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted May 10, 2012 Which trip ins do you have? We like to get annual trip ins but they don't all include cruises and as we are getting older (well he is!!) it's getting more expensive.

We use Direct Travel - they cover cruising & also medical conditions if you declare them however I am not sure what their premiums are for "older" people!!! kruzseeka Posted May 11, 2012 #4 Share Posted May 11, 2012 We have Coop Bank Insurance (AXA) and it says 'any type of holiday' so assume we're covered. (Made me go and check though - thanks!) Have had to declare specific pre-existing conditions though.

We like to get annual trip ins but they don't all include cruises and as we are getting older (well he is!!) it's getting more expensive. We have annual trip insurance from Staysure who specialise in insurance for the over 50's (apologies if you're not as old as that!) and will cover pre-exisiting conditions. The operator I spoke to on the phone said that they include cruises and that most of their customers are going on cruises.
blossom52 Posted May 11, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted May 11, 2012 Hubby is now 67 (although I'm a LOT younger) Some companies only cover up to 65. Just when people start to take more trips lol.

WeeCountyMan Posted May 22, 2012 #8 Share Posted May 22, 2012 You might want to consider the free travel insurance policy on a Nationwide Flexaccount - covers account holders up to age 75 for Europe - annual cover. There are basically two conditions - credit (minimum) £750 monthly and hold a Visa debit card on the account. After three months the free travel insurance becomes valid. They used to have a condition that at least two direct debits/standing orders were active, however that seems to have been dropped from their terms. We all need a bank account, so this is a good deal. We also have a Sainsbury's Gold credit card which offers free worldwide travel insurance for up to 21 days, up to 65 years of age - costs £5 a month - but we get a fiver bonus off our main bank account with HBOS which is used to settle this, so effectively it's free "bottom line" for us. The other big attraction is absolutely no fees (any kind) for foreign currency transactions at ATMs abroad - as long as you settle up your balance statement when it arrives. Great deal for obtaining readies on holiday. No - I do not work for any of the above financial institutions !!!
Isis2 Posted May 22, 2012 #9 Share Posted May 22, 2012 Unfortunately, I suffer from diabetes, high blood pressure, and a chlosterol problem so we use Diabetes UK Insurance Services, and pay £70 for two weeks, which is really good, that is for both of us. :)
