Restaurants in Houston?

So if you were going to surprise or wife, gf, husband or bf with a nice meal just because you love him or her, where ( in the Houston/ Galveston ) area would you take them. I am just. Looking for suggestions on good, non chain restaurants. It can be cheap, expensive, moderate... Or whatever, it just needs to have amazing food, doesn't matter the type either. :) thanks ahead of time.

I'm not a huge fan of Baba Yaga's, myself. The food is only okay.

 

I recommend Mi Luna, a tapas bar in Rice Village.

Been to Mi Luna in Rice Village...it was good. It's pretty noisy in there...but we were also there during Happy Hour. In the same neighborhood was El Meson, a Cuban restaurant. We really enjoyed it. A little more quiet, tablecloths on tables, etc. Good food! So many good places to eat in Houston, but I love these smaller venues.

For Italian I like Mezzanotte Ristorante in Cypress. Amazing food & service and perfect date night type place.
