taking beer on board

Recommended Posts

RCCL used to let you take beer along and also let you buy in Nausau and drink in your cabin. I heard they do not allow that anymore, advid beer drinker and trying to see if I can stowe it away in my luggage, any suggestions? J

From all the posts I've read on this subject...They definitely don't allow it, but...you can try and risk losing it. It seems sometimes they take it away and sometimes they don't. It all depends on who is working the ship, but with today's tighter security I doubt it will go unnoticed. If you don't mind lugging it with you, I'd give it a shot. You may lose some cash, but if you do just stay out of the casino for an hour or so and you'll make up for it. Good luck.

We have never had been taken from our checked bags. I have not tried to carry it on in a carry on when first boarding nor would I. We have brought cases in our packed suitcases. I think the people that get it confiscated are those who try to bring it on from the islands......which they take and tag and bring to you on the last night.

Put it in your checked bag and you won't have a problem. We fly in.....find a party store and pack around our clothes. Those 12 pack fridge packs are small and easy to work with.

So if you get the beer onboard, do you use the mini bar to keep it cold? And if so does that cause any confusion on what's already there?

Also have you brought bottles or cans? Cans seem a bit smaller and might be easier to get onboard.

You can empty the mini bar. We put it in the shelves above the safe in our room. The mini bar is not cold enough to make warm things cold, but if you ask the room steward for ice get the beer cold and transfer it to the fridge. We got a bucket from the bar and it will chill 6 beers at a time. The steward will keep it iced if you ask him to. We have also put a plastic bag with beer in it and dumped the ice in it and put it in the shower. When it chills put it in the fridge. Go with cans......less worry about breakage.

My plan is to get whats called "stadium or event" beers. They are 16 oz. plastic bottles with twist tops. I know that most Bud, Miller and Coors products are available in these containers. I plan on putting 4 bottles in side two zip lock freezer bags. I will pack as many of these 4-pack as I can in our checked luggage. I may also try an additional four pack in my carry-on just for fun. I intend to spend money at the bars on the ship, but I like to have a beer in my cabin before dinner or whenever. If any one has any other ideas please post. :D

I have never had a prblem with buying beer in a port and bringing it back on.

Beer is very expensive in Nassau- two weeks ago I bought a six pack of Coronas & it was around 14 bucks!!
