Shore Excursions - Local or ship based

Hello All.

 

Well, it is time for our second cruise! Were on the POA. As was the case of my last cruise, the Boards were invaluable. Once again, I need your help. With so many excursions listed in the NCL brochure I am truly overwhelmed at this point. I am looking to see what you all think about the best stuff on each island. Are there any local tours that you would reccomend? must-see kind of stuff. Is it better to book local or ship based? When we did the Mexican Riviera we found some fantastic local excursions. Also, how easy is it to see the popular stuff on Kauai or Maui? should I just rent a car? - I would like to do an ATV tour I think - best reccomendations? also would like to do a horsebackride on one of the islands - again anyones suggestions would be great. I must take a helo tour, the boards seem to think Kauai is best - any operators you reccomend? or would another island be better? How are the ship based helo tours? Lastly, what is the best Luau you could suggest? Well, thats it for now - Your expertise is greatly appreciated!

Is there an excursion list for the POA online? All I've found is the PDF file, which doesn't offer any descriptions/prices.

There's a horse excursion offered on Maui that begins part way up Haleakala and goes up into the crater. Don't know who operates it, but check out www.gohawaii.com and you may find it.

I have booked our own excursions for August POAm with tombarefoot.com They have agreat number of trips, and less than NCL. Also check hawaiigreentours.com for Hilo. Good Luck. Lisa
