Putting down a deposit on a ship for onboard credit?

We are planning to cruise Carnival Magic Oct 14th 2012. I am also planning next year and thinking about booking a cruise now for 2013. If I purchase the deposit for a future cruise while we are onboard on Oct 14th...can we apply that to our cruise in 2013 that has already been booked....or is it for new bookings only?

 

If I can't apply it to my 2013 cruise then I might just wait to book the cruise so that we can get that extra onboard credit.

They are for future NON booked cruises. You can book onboard if you choose.
