Online Check-In Question

Hey everyone - I have a question about the online check-in through hollandamerica.com.

This is my 2nd HAL cruise but it really feels like my first because the first one I went on was a gifted cruise and all arrangements, payments, confirmation, etc were all done for me (it was amazing). I got totally hooked and now I'm back and having to handle this all on my own and I'm stumbling through learning the process. :)

I booked the trip with the required deposit yesterday through my TA (who is also my mom and joining us on the cruise). There's 4 of us in total. 2 of us are past sailers so we're 1-star Mariners. I logged into my mariner account and I can see our booking and there's red text telling me to register online as soon as possible. I'm wondering what that means for me and for their system - why would I have to register online this early? And should I do it for my other passengers or if I register now, can I go back in later and register them too?

Hopefully someone can shine a light on this for me so I know I'm following the right procedure and not messing anything up. :)

As soon as you make a reservation, you will see that note about registering asap. You dont have to really do that until it's time to print your boarding documents (about 75 days ahead of the cruise). It's probably good to fill out as much as you can (passport, emergency contacts, etc) - Once you know flight info etc.
