First Suite EVER!

Recommended Posts

I am super excited....DH and I took the plunge and we are trying our first Suite EVER! We have finally talked some of my hubby's family into a cruise and we will be going with 7 first time cruisers. We thought maybe it would be nice to have a suite since there will be 10 of us total and if we need a place to congregate a larger stateroom might be better for us... (ok, I really wanted to try one too...I won't lie, lol) I am just looking for opinions on what you all thought of the suites....is it worth the extra $ for the space? Are the suites that much nicer? I really don't care as long as I am on the ship but I am just curious about what other guests thought of the suite experience. We will be on the Triumph in October. Thank you all for taking the time to read this and have a good evening :)

Weve had a suite a couple times. LOVE them. Some extra room in the actual bedroom area. No bumping into each other all the time. What I really like is a normal sized bathroom. AND theres a dressing table just outside the bathroom with 2 large closets there. Also 2 large closets and a 4 drawer dresser in the bedroom area. The balcony is only slightly larger but still nice. Hope you enjoy.

Agree with above poster! On our first cruise, the cruise fairy upgraded us from an OV to a Grand Suite for free on the Elation..... Now there's no turning back for us! DH insists!

We are in an ocean suite on our coming cruise and looking forward to opening our balcony with our friends next to us. We always cruise with a group and love the extra space to get together and the extra balcony space to enjoy!

Enjoy all the space...even if you're not in your room that much....it is still very lovely!!

Happy sailing!

Well, I haven't ever had a suite so I will be really curious as to how YOU enjoy it! I'm sure it will be fabulous and know you will enjoy it. Sounds like a great time, especially since you can "break in" the newbie cruisers in your family. Ya'll have a wonderful time! And report back in Oct. about the suite. Be sure to take photos of it also!

Oh not to be a downer but did the owners suite once and worse cruise ever. But was on an older ship, every day something went wrong that almost had me swim to shore. Welding on the roof and smoke, door lock not working, tried to kick me out for a remodel,etc....3500 wasted and not even a sorry.

Love, love, love suites. The best one was a aft-wrap vista suite on the legend. So much room. Had a seperate bedroom. We had two other couples cruising with us and they had insides so it was nice and roomy in suite and balcony where we hung out.

The worse was on the Fantsay, probably because it was older and smaller then any suite we had.

Wish we could do suites all the time but wouldn't be able to cruise as much if we did. Suites for us are for special times like birthdays etc.

Victory suite was nice, nicer then Fascination. Fascination was nicer then Fantsay. Haven't been on Triumph so don't know about that one.

Am sure you will love the suite since you have never been in one. Have a great cruise.

When we sailed on the Destiny in 2010 we got a call from the up-sell fairy about a month before we were due to sail. Offered us a suite and we said "yes". It was great! Our DS was barely 2 at the time so the extra room was great and having a bathtub was a plus. You will love it!!!:)

I "almost" booked a suite this time for our cruise in Oct but, I chickened out at the last minute and booked an Ocean View room. Maybe next time! Let us know how you enjoyed yours and if you think it was worth the extra cost.

I love suites! It is great to have the extra space, and the bath tub and VIP check-in are nice perks. People say they are hardly in the room, but I am in the room much more if I have a suite. Super excited for my first aft-wrap suite! I am also going with first-time cruisers who i think will love the extra space in my room for entertaining. Enjoy your suite!!

AlexandraS, I have spent a lot of time in my room before (when I have a balcony...) This is going to be a total R&R cruise so I am really imagining chillin in the cabin reading a book when my sunscreen wears off, LOL. Then watching a sun rise/set off of the balcony. I am really excited to see the diference....and I am super excited for the Aft Wrap!!!! Go you! I would love to see pictures when you come back and I intend to post a bunch and give you all a report on whether or not it is worth it....I am kinda scared I won't wanna go back to an inside though.....(I am a fan of inside cabins too.) Have a great day :)

My first suite was a premium suite on Princess. It was a free upgrade. It was an aft suite with a double wide and double deep balcony. The price for the suite was over $4000 but we got it for our regular price which was about $1500.

Last year we had an ocean suite on the Valor which was great. The difference from a junior suite to an ocean suite is only the balcony. The room is the same size but the balcony is double wide on the ocean suite. This year all suites were sold out so we got a balcony on lido deck.

We have our first suite in two weeks, and it's an aft-wrap suite on Legend with a connecting extended aft balcony for our young adult kids. We are so excited! Have been counting down since Sept. We've read that these are some of the best suites in the fleet, so I was happy to read your response!

No doubt about it just as everyone has stated the suite is the nicest available room on the ship, that said though it is also the most expensive. DW & I sprung for the suite once to celebrate an anniversary and we had a very nice time. Got a cruise next month booked and were going back to an oceanview room with no regrets at all because we must be on a budget. I am happy no matter what room I am in. You will enjoy the suite very much.

Just back today from an Ocean Suite on the Triumph. As stated above, the bathroom is a normal size bathroom. You also get a dressing area and two closets. In addition the balcony is larger - there is room for 3 deck chairs and a table.

The best perk, though, is that (at least in Galveston) you embark and disembark in a separate area. Embarkation was less than 10 minutes on Monday. When we disembarked today, we waited in the Rome Lounge for them to call our Zone (Zone 1). We were escorted by Carnival crew to a separate exit and the whole disembarkation took less than 20 minutes.

We both have passports and that made it extra speedy as well. The lines for birth certificates were long, long.

Lastly, with a suite you are guaranteed your choice for dining time. We were seated on the lower level of the Paris Dining Room and were able to enjoy the waiters dancing around us.

You will love it! This was our first cruise and we chose a suite because it was our 35th anniversary, too. Guess it will be a suite from now on. ;)

The term "suite" depends on the ship... Which ship are you sailing on?

Suites on the larger ships are sweet, others on smaller ships are only slightly larger (and the balcony is SMALL) than a standard balcony on the large ships...

We enjoy suites. The suites on the smaller ships are not worth the money in my opinion. Had one on the imagination and it overlooked the bridge and a walking area and you had a hard time turning around on it-so small. Love the Ocean suites , but not a lover of the vista suites. Not enough privacy on the balcony and the room is just weird altho others really love them. Have a great time in your suite.

Glad to hear you had a good time on the Triumph! That is the ship we will be on as well! Did you take any pics? :) I noticed that the balconies looked very small on the Ecstacy. We had an ocean view on that cruise. @ Moobaby214....is the Triumph considered one of the larger ships? I know there are several classes and this one is older that some of the others. Thanks for all the posts! I swear I learn something new on this site every time I check it! :)

Congrats Vegas Lobster on your first Suite! I booked one when taking one of best friends on her first cruise. VIP check in was nice. The room was great as well as the balcony. However, we didn't spend very much time enjoying the actual cabin but it was a great experience. I would advise anyone with the option to do so to go for it. Enjoy your cruise.

Took a reduced price upgrade on the Magic and found it hard to go back. On a long cruise, it is nice to have a place to store things and with the dressing table, DH and I each have a place for our "stuff". We were traveling with my in-laws so it was nice to have a quiet place to sit with them for drinks, conversation, etc.

The priority embarkation is worth it. We do spend time in our cabin, enjoy sea days, so we appreciate the extra room including in the shower. This cruise, Breeze July 21, we have a spa suite so we shall see how nice that is.

Yes, suites on the new ship like the Magic I just cant imagine!!!! Since it was an option this time and there will be 10 of us I thought it would be fun to try it! Personally, I will take any cabin just to be on a cruise! I have been to the ports before so I am pretty sure I won't be getting off of the ship this time so I can see hanging out on the balcony :) Let me know how the spa suite is! I bet it is amazing.........:)
