Glory 5/21/12 Review - Norfolk/Bahamas

Cons: 1) If Norfolk wants more cruise lines to originate cruises from its port, it needs to redo the drop off and pick up area to accomodate more vehicles more efficiently. Once inside the termional, the staff is excellent and boarding processing time was mere minutes

2) For a newer ship, we were disappointed in the one up, one over and down to reach certain major areas of the ship. The limited access to the Deck 3 walkng area was also very aggravating at times especially when they would block off doors to set up photography backdrops.

3) The volume in the shows and on deck was way too load in many cases. You'd think that everyone was deaf.

Pros: 1) The crew and staff were EXCELLENT!!!! Everyone was very helpful and friendly and did a great job.

2) The ship was spotlessly clean.

3) The food in the Red Sail Lido restaurant was very good overall and the staff there worked their butts off to make sure everything was replenished and clean. It would be nice to have 2 people making sandwiches in the Deli though. The gentleman working there was very conscientious about putting out a good product but was slow and it wasn't unusual to wait 30 minutes to get a sandwich with only 10 or so people in line.

4) The specialty Steak House restaurant was excellent and well worth the 3extra money. Their Tiramisu dessert is to die for.

5) The staff shows were all excellent, except for the volume, and the singers and dancers really worked hard to put on the best show possible. The Legends show with the passenger members performing was also excellent.

6) The casino staff was excellent and very helpful if you had any questions. Being a non smoker, it would have been nice to have a little better ventilation in the casino to pull out the smoke faster.

Overall, we were very pleased with the Carnival experience. We're Diamond Plus on Royal and had stayed away from Carnival for several years due to poor prior experiences several years ago. We'll definately repeat on Carnival again.

Thanks for your thoughts. I'll be trying Carnival and the Glory for the first time next year out of Norfolk. I'm looking forward to not having to fly to get to the ship. I'm also glad to hear your experience was good onboard except for the minor issues you brought up.

I was on the cruise that was departing as you guys were lining up to get on board. I agree about the chaos outside of the terminal. It seemed like the police and terminal staff were really trying to move people along, but there just isn't enough space. I believe things were made a lot worse shortly after we left our parking garage. A flatbed trailer spent about twenty minutes blocking City Hall Ave to back into a construction site.

I'm glad your other experiences were great. I agree about the sandwich line - the reubens are so good, but he could use some help back there!
