JP46 Posted August 24, 2005 #26 Share Posted August 24, 2005 Hi Nancy I've got some info on tour groups for Sydney/Cape Breton. Give me a day or two to go through it all and I'll e-mail you the Tour companies' web sites and a few prices from the Taxi Tours. I have Friday afternoon off and that will give me more time, as I type slowly. Have a great day! (Had a walk around the Craft Show that is set up for ship days. Beautiful things!! Spent too much money!!) Judy

What did you get? I love to shop but DH doesn't ;) . He does humor me though! Nancy

ladyandchristian Posted September 15, 2005 #30 Share Posted September 15, 2005 I am glad to see a new regrowth of interest in Sydney, and sorry as well to the upset from my previous posts. As I said, my family is from Sydney and still there on a bi yearly basis. I still am sticking to my original opinions though, and attribute much of that to the fact that visiting and living in an area are two drastically different things! My opinions are based on having lived in several different areas, of varying sizes and at various stages of growth. Many things, like say the Sydney Casino, are compared to what you know. I suppose that yes, if you are not used to having a Casino in your area, Sydney Casino would be a great addition, and the few restaraunts in the area would suffice as well. I felt badly about the discord and asked my mother if there was something she had neglected to show us in Sydney over the past 20 years! She said no, the Sydney of today is not that different than the Sydney she left years ago, its all dependent on what you are used to, and what your likes and dislikes are. For me, I think of the high cancer rate, the slow progression of Arts and Culture growth, the many younger females and males that are still leaving school much too early to pursue jobs in the fishing industry, or leaving the province all together to seek better employment opportunities. Again, this is based on my experience with Sydney, CB island, many family and friends. I did say in my first post that I was pleased to see interest in the area, its needed and appreciated I am sure. Personal opinions DO vary, and thats a great thing!! So, to all going to Sydney, enjoy, and if you rent a car eat at Janes, best Turkey dinner in the area...
