My husband booked the cabana. It will be me, DH, and DD in one room and my parents are in another room. When they give us the excursion tickets, do they automatically give you 6 tender tickets, etc, or do we need to go to the Shore Excursion desk and tell them the exact number?

Who ever books the excursion will receive an envelope, it will have one ticket for the cabana (up to 6 people), six tickets for the hippo slide, one family float, one menu for the $50 credit, and six priority tender tickets, you will also get 6 waivers that will need to be signed by all adults in your Cabana and include all minors. These are for the Hippo slide. You will turn them in upon arrival on the island, when you report to the snorkel equipment hut. We found that we did not even need the priority tender tickets. We arrived at GSC at 7am, and having the Cabana we did not have to worry about chairs not being available. We took our time, slept in a little, had a nice breakfast, then went to the island. Much more relaxing, no rush, was a great day.

OP: I seriously doubt that my partner and I (53 yo) nor my parents (83 yo) will be zipping down the Hippo Slide !

Can I give away (at no charge, just building up good karma) the tickets to others not in my party ?

I don't see any reason why you could not give away the Hippo slide tickets, they are standard excursion tickets, turn in and get a bracelet to wear for the day. Great idea, why waste if others can use.... Kudo's

Just was lurking on the HAL boards a lot of complaints it seems their cabana's on their private island is now 399.00. Wow!

That is INSANE!!!!! I hope that includes an open bar for the day for all occupants.

Thanks for the detailed information. I have another question. When were you assigned a specific cabana?

Thanks for the info! I was wondering how it worked. We can probably give away two of the Hippo slide tickets since my parents won't be doing that, lol.

I aasked about this at the shore excursion desk - no problem to give away the tickets. Just be sure to give them the waiver form also.

Since I booked on the ship I was given the cabana number at that time. I imagine if you book through the web you find out when you get your tickets once aboard the ship - they should be in your cabin upon arrival.

OP: About the cabanas on the Holland America Line (HAL) private island, I have twice stayed at those cabanas. And here are some points; smaller in size than GSC, booking is for 4 person not six, has A/C in addition to overhead fans, stocked with 6 waters and 6 soft drinks, no free booze/beer, free snorkle equip and float mats, no island credit, and at least the last time we booked two years ago, I think it was $299.

So, when the GSC cabanas became available for my Pearl in Nov., I thought it was a pretty good deal. Still do 1

The HAL cabanas just went up to 399.99 everyone over at HAL is complaining like crazy I do not blame them. That price is insane.

We couldn't give away any hippo slide passes. We just got a wristband that said "cabana" which was also used on the hipposlide. We only got a wristband when we arrived on the island, so if there were only two in your party, you only got two wristbands, none to share with others. I thought that would be kind, as well, to give away the hippo slide bands to kids that would enjoy them, but it wasn't possible.

Do you know if your party is bigger than 6 if we can all hang out at the cabana or is only 6 people allowed at a time?

I called the Shore Excursion number and I was told that the Cabanas are for up to 6 people and the beverages that are included "Water Bottles" are for the 6. If you want to have more people they have to be escorted in by the person who reserved the Cabana and within reason as to not disturb the others in the area. The people taking care of the Cabanas will monitor the extra people and if there are to many they will request you to ask them to leave.

We had Cabana #5 last week on GSC. It was nice, but it is not even close to the Cabanas on HMC. No cushy lounge chairs, no refrigerator, no ice, no snorkel gear, just a giant impossible to handle family float for the water. There was no one to go to the buffet for food as someone said on another post which was fine with us.. The food we had delivered was very nice but it was very hot and there was no way to keep anything cool not even an ice chest. There was a bar waiter who had to walk half way across the island for drinks. They have really not mastered the whole cabana thing yet. We had invited a couple to join us ( we were only 2 people) and no one questioned them being there.

It was nice to have a quiet place to be, but bring bug spray. It is also fairly steep for elderly people with or without the wheel chair.

Not sure if I would do it again, yet I would pay the $399 at HMC again in a minute.

how did you book the cabana? I have looked on my documents and ncl website and it's not listed so I'm confused.

We are going in July.

thanks,

Nancy

When I booked mine I did not see it in my document for 3 days. When did you book yours? If you don't see it call the shore excursion desk.

They are booked online as an Excursion. I believe it goes away when all of them are booked.

Once we booked it we received an email confirmation and then could see it in our online account. Seemed immediate.
