We got caught!

Recommended Posts

that is what separates us from the animals.... free will.

we are responsible for our choices, actions and the consequences that follow from them.

you disagree with cruisers who choose to smuggle alcohol on the basis it is against Carnival's rules.

many others see the issue differently.

you choose not to smuggle, (free will, right?), others do and sometimes they walk to the naughty room and lose their carefully stashed hootch.

unlike chair hogging which negatively impacts fellow cruisers, the decision to smuggle or not doesn't affect you directly. we should all just live and let live on this one. :)

You are right on! Out to sea is out to lunch!

Don't get him started, cause he will just come up with crazy scenarios to try to make his point. lol

Yes, following the rules as we were all taught to do as children is outlandishly crazy behavior. Breaking the rules to do whatever one wants is the norm these days. I see evidence of that daily on I-4.

If you want to make personal attacks, go ahead, I can't stop it. But I do know where the report button is.

I'm really enjoying this thread. Thanks, all.

I love the casino... lol. That is where my money goes.)

I just thought of another way to cut the costs - start bringing Free Cell or Tetris again like I did when my son was younger. That'll cut down on the time I spend in the casino and keep me away from all the smoke. Hope they don't start confiscating laptops and game systems.

It is my duty as a shareholder to smuggle booze to protect the value of my investment !!

Follow me in this, and I am sure you will agree if you understand the economics of it.

I buy my own booze and smuggle it onto the ship to drink.

Those who don't smuggle have to buy their own drinks from Carnival --- However, they don't pay for the drinks with their own money, THEY USE CARNIVAL'S OWN MONEY TO PAY IN THE FORM OF OBC OBTAINED FROM CARNIVAL. THEREFORE, THEY ARE COSTING CARNIVAL MONEY FOR THEIR DRINKS WHILE I AM NOT !!!!!

So -- If you want your stock price to stay up or rise, SMUGGLE !!!!

Maybe you are crazy. Have you ever been checked?

Having spent 21 years in the Air Force and going through many TS/SBI/SCI background investigations, I've been checked for many things. Nope, they've never found anything wrong with me.

How about you??

I had a brain scan once. And they didn't find a thing!!! :(

What about those people that leave a lil butter in the packet after eating a roll...they eat a second roll (profit leaches!) And open a second butter packet!!!! I bet if the surrounding tables were asked there would surely be enough butter leavings to satisfy this obvious communist plant's desire for cholesterol. Are you listening john heald? Profits is flying of the promenade!!!

All I can say about this post is that now you're on a roll!!! :D

And that is the biggest problem in society these days.....people think it's a personal choice to follow the rules versus an expectation. No wonder we're going to hell in a handbasket!

The chimps in the zoo must be laughing their butts off at us because we think we're the civilized ones in the evolutionary chain!!

Why you have to bring family into this discussion?

So if I book a cruise for the family and we dont buy any drinks, pictures, shore excursions, or buy any of the junk in the shops, not play bingo or drop a Franklin in the casino, we are ripping off carnival.

I'm guessing in your feeble mind that using my own camera would be considered illegal since the ships picture are for purchase. I have ripped off every cruise I have been on, I never have had a spa treatment. Sorry shareholders for my sins.

Also, what if I stay in an inside cabin instead of paying for a suite? Shouldn't I opt for the most expensive option so I'm not "stealing from the stockholders"?

lol thx for the entertainment :D

Bottom line if ya wanna smuggle than do it if not dont. Its dosent effect anyone except the person if they got caught, They have to stand in that long line the last day

And all the peeps crying about rule breaking they are prob the ones who chair hog and wear jeans to the MDR

I just travel in a big group and get a unlimited booze pkg :D

I'm just curious as to where the data came from to bring you to this conclusion? Personally, I disagree with it and believe a lot more get caught than you realize. Of course, if Carnival started cracking down and denying boarding to those caught trying to smuggle (as allowed by the contract), the number of people attempting to smuggle would diminish greatly.

I believe they would also lose a lot of customers. It's like the fuel surcharge. They state that they may charge the surcharge if oil gets too expensive. I believe they tried that once and got very much angry backlash. The same would happen if the refused passage to smugglers.

Besides, necessity is the mother of invention. When battlefield medicine improved, the other side found "better" ways to inflict damage that could not be treated on the battlefield. The same will happen with smuggling. People will find new and inventive ways to bring it on -- some just to see if they came up with a better mouse trap.

Correct, because you don't have to smuggle to have a good time or enjoy a cruise.

What bothers me, other than the obvious cruise contract stuff, is that smuggling is really stealing from the shareholders, the owners of the company. Many members of Cruise Critic are also Carnival shareholders and the simple fact is that smuggling reduces profits and reduced profits causes the price of the stock to go down.

This argument doesn't pan out. Most smugglers usually have large sail and sign bills-I know we do. We smuggle because we like to have a couple of drinks while getting ready for dinner or sitting on our balcony. With the kind of logic you are using, that would mean non-drinkers are hurting the shareholders. We book balconies and suites, we gamble in the casino, and we buy drinks from the bars and bottles of wine at dinner. We attend the Chef's table. I don't think we are hurting Carnival one bit!!;)

So out of curiosity I forced myself to actually walk into one of those Walmart places the other day looking for those RumRunner/Catheter bags that so many of you speak so highly about. Just wanted to amuse myself and see what the inside of one of those stores looks like while I checked out the smuggler's favorite tools.

OMG, what they say is so true - People of Walmart???? But that is not the issue here.

So I asked around for the RumRunner/Catheter bags and finally received some help and she says, "you sure don't look like a Carnival cruiser." Truth!! Honest!!

She said they do not have any RumRunners and offered some ziplock bags and then she offered to show me her catheter bag, on her LEG!!! Truth!! Honest!! On that note I said I was double-parked and had to go, OMG...

So I must ask, what does a Carnival cruiser look like???

And on the other hand, if they didnt charge so much for the drinks, no one would try to smuggle. I dont smuggle... but it costs me a ridiculous amount of money each cruise to have a few drinks a day.

How much do you have to drink each day to make smuggling worthwhile? I'd just as soon drink in one of the many saloons than go to the trouble to sneak booze on the ship.

Yeah really!!

I did not like the price they charge for ice cream so I tried to smuggle as much as I could. I too, was VERY desperate.

Bummer, it did not work...

You have ANY idea how much I spend a day on ice cream??? Well worth the smuggling-risk!!
