NOLA Hilton Garden Inn Convention Center...anyone ever stayed pre-cruise?

Just booked the Hilton Garden Inn Convention Center for a great rate through lastminutetravel.com and wondering if anyone else has stayed there? Seems like a nice hotel and very close to the port. Wondering if it is easily walkable to the port, assuming weather is cooperative and we have luggage taken care of.

While distance wise the cruise port is walkable from your hotel, it is not a pedestrian friendly walk......

We stayed there the last 2 cruises out of NOLA, and absolutely LOVED it. We parked at the Fulton St. Parking garage, which is across the street corner. Fulton was cheaper parking than the port, and they offer a shuttle to & from the port.

I have sent out of towers to this property many times. I would not walk to the port WITH luggage. I would spend the few dollars and have a cab drop me off.
