OnTheGoMom921 Posted June 4, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 4, 2012 What not to miss out on etc.? Going in August with my 20 year old DD and 15 year old DS. Thanks in advance!! The Elements show on the Star was a "do not miss". The acrobats were incredible! The show was a visual feast. The french magician was very good in that show as well. Your DD & DS will be very entertained as well. I was told that this show is unique to the Star, and the other ship's version of Elements is different, which is a shame, because I was looking forward to seeing it again on the Gem in a few weeks. Enjoy your cruise!:D
xenagurl Posted June 4, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 4, 2012 I was told that this show is unique to the Star, and the other ship's version of Elements is different, which is a shame, because I was looking forward to seeing it again on the Gem in a few weeks. If I remember correctly the husband and wife acrobat duo were incorporated into this version of Elements. It was definitely a highlight, they're a great team. OP I enjoy the Atrium area on the Star sitting down at the cafe, drinking coffee and having the Pistachio pound cake. Yummm! And I second the Red Lion, even if you don't stay, it's where you grab your popcorn. I really wish they'd incorporate popcorn machines on all of the ships. I loved being able to have a fresh bag as I walked around.

JMHAM1 Posted June 5, 2012 #7 Share Posted June 5, 2012 Its not a secret but we found Ginza to be AMAZING!! Forget Teppenakki, especially if you have one of these type restaurants in your town, and hit Ginza instead. It was deserted during our cruise. I'm thinking maybe the people on our cruise were unfamiliar with the type of food. It was sooooo gooood that we ate there TWICE and probably would have gone there again if we had found it earlier in the cruise. I also enjoyed the Red Lion pub. There was always something fun going on there and it has great atmosphere. We loved the Star and would go on her again anytime!
Richpontone Posted June 7, 2012 #8 Share Posted June 7, 2012 A professional and a gentleman, who resolves any problem regarding service and room. You can contact him at ext. 8888. Also, the staff is first rate--friendly and helpful Some things you can miss 1. Bring your own coffee. The "free" coffee is not so good on the Star. 2. Tiny dance floor in Spinaker Lounge. 3. "White Hot Party"-caters mostly to an under 25 year old crowd.

It was excellent and was deserted when we were there also. The staff there was great and the restaurant manager talked to us several times making sure everything was very good and insisted on bringing us several appetizers. swedish weave Posted June 7, 2012 #10 Share Posted June 7, 2012 Check the "made to order" omelets and waffles at the grill on deck 12 in the mornings.
Hikini Posted June 8, 2012 #11 Share Posted June 8, 2012 We love the Star - been on her 4 times. I love the soaring grand atrium on deck 7. At the Java Cafe you pay for the 'espresso' type drinks, but regular coffee is free, as are the pastries. For part of each afternoon the Barong juice bar serves ice cream cones - about 4 or 5 flavors to choose from. All the way to the back on deck 12 - beyond the buffet. If you don't like cigarette smoke and you're going to a show in the Stardust Theater, sit on the port (left) side if you enter the theater on deck 6. The casino is also on deck 6 and the smoke from the casino drifts into the theater on the right side. The Star Bar, across from Cagney's on deck 13 is a nice place to get away from major crowds. Have a blast and give the Star an affectionate pat from us! :)
