jmwg49 Posted June 9, 2012 #76 Share Posted June 9, 2012 Was the Land's End Boat tour through Carnival worth it? I have read that you can just hire a water taxi and go on your own for about $10pp, but the idea of getting priority tendering appeals to me! Could you get off the catamaran at the beach? Thoroughly enjoying your review! Yup..Canadians Rock!:p
vanislandcruisers Posted June 10, 2012 Author #77 Share Posted June 10, 2012 Was the Land's End Boat tour through Carnival worth it? I have read that you can just hire a water taxi and go on your own for about $10pp, but the idea of getting priority tendering appeals to me! Could you get off the catamaran at the beach? Thoroughly enjoying your review! Yup..Canadians Rock!:p Glad you are enjoying it jmwg49.... As far as whether or not the "Land's End Boat tour worth it?"....it served the purpose for what we wanted to accomplish which was to get off the Ship early....There was only 1 Platinum Guest amongst the 10 of us so the assurance of "priority tendering" appealed to us...it wasn't expensive and a few of even talked at one point before the cruise of just skipping the actual tour in a 'pay for early Tender' kind of thing....We were all Happy we didn't do that The Views, Drinks and Staff were GREAT!!!...no you couldn't get off the boat at Lover's Beach...and I should add that Lynne and PeeWee were just getting off their Tender when we got back and they had gone to the Spectacular Theater about the same time as us...and by no means were they one of the last tender Sticker numbers Dee and I did the Water Taxi to Lover's Beach 2 days in a row on our Nov '11 Carnival Spirit Cruise...grabbed some Beer and a Styrofoam Cooler (Water Taxi Captain stopped at a place for us in the Marina) and it was GREAT!!!...and very inexpensive but it did take us quite a while to get off the Spirit the 1st day

vanislandcruisers Posted June 10, 2012 Author #79 Share Posted June 10, 2012 Conclusion #500: Cabo Wabo We arrived at Cabo Wabo where we met up with several others and got a Table for 14 for Mark & Diane, Allen & Joyce, Lynne & Peewee, Mo & Nicole, Tammi & Karl, Dan & Coral and Dee and I and we all sat down for an early lunch and some drinks. As the next ½ hour went by we could have easily increased the size of the Table to one that would accommodate 40 because Donna & Dan, Jimmy & Shelly, Terry & Sue, Gordie & Vicki, Rick & Laurie, David & Maria, Kevin & Maureen, Pamie and M & R - Conclusion #501: I quickly sneezed on our 2 plates of food - plus a few others stopped by and we told them we would meet them downstairs as soon as we were done lunch. Conclusion #502: We would end up Well-done. After a few drinks I made way over to the little kiosk and bought my daughter, Lindsey, a bottle of Cabo Wabo Tequila because she had just turned 19 which is the Legal Drinking Age in BC. I also bought her a pair of Cabo Wabo Thong Panties, a T-Shirt for myself and a Tank Top for Dee. When I got back to the table I showed Dee the purchases and then said “What was I thinking buying Linz that?” She said “I know,…we should keep the Tequila for ourselves.” Conclusion #503: The Margaritas were Awesome!!! Dee liked the Thong so much that she sent me back to kiosk to get her a pair. I could almost see the Saleslady looking at me while I was buying a 2nd pair of Panties in the last 5 minutes thinking “Here you go Gringo weeth Panty feetish.” I thought “Si”. Lunch and beverages finished we made our way downstairs to meet up with everyone else and it was now about 11:00am Ship time which with the change of our clocks a few days earlier put us in the same Time Zone as CSL. We ended up in an open aired area towards the back of Cabo Wabo and had 12 Tables between us. We have read some negative Reviews on Trip Advisor describing Cabo Wabo as “Loud…Party atmosphere …Spring Breakish” Conclusion #504: We were all that + some. No bad reviews from any of us - WE LOVED IT!!! The Waboritas.... ....Tequila Shots – some of which were Body Shots, Buckets of Beers and Inflatable Microphones were out in full force and then Cabo Wabo added a BAND. vanislandcruisers Posted June 10, 2012 Author #83 Share Posted June 10, 2012 After a while Dee said that she was’ finding the drinks heavy’. I suggested that she ‘ask our Waiter if he could bring her a drink in a lighter glass’. Apparently that is not what she meant but she did change up from the Margaritas to something else. The drinks at Cabo Wabo are by no means Cheap – certainly not ‘the cheap drinks in Mexico’ kind of thing. As has been our habit ever since our stop at Senor Frogs in Cozumel on our first cruise together, especially the way we hydrate, - Conclusion #505: We may have learned a lesson there but were too ‘hydrated’ to know for sure - we don’t run Tabs and pay Cash for each round as it arrives. I do know of a few in our group who were surprised by their Total Bill at the end of the end of the day – not a case of any amount being way out of line but just a little over what they expected. The Band covered some GREAT music and we danced, sang and drank along with them. I could see Dee, inflatable microphone in one hand and a ‘lighter’ glass in the other edging her way closer and closer to the Stage as each song passed ... Dee and Tammi Closer Dee and......... Nicole..... ...ended up on the stage with the Band and sang a couple of tunes with them.
vanislandcruisers Posted June 10, 2012 Author #84 Share Posted June 10, 2012 Allen was still hungry so he decided to have a sandwich..... ...and then Dan wanted one too... Nicole finished up the Band's Set with a performance on a Stool..... with a little hlp from Kevin and Dee.. vanislandcruisers Posted June 10, 2012 Author #86 Share Posted June 10, 2012 Allen, Dee and I were the last ones to leave. Conclusion #505: SHOCKING!!! So we got what was left in our drinks poured into Roadie Cups and made our way outside........ to the street to try and get our bearings as to which way to go to get back to the Port. There was a fellow with a Pedi-Cab on the side of the street so we asked him if he would take the 3 of us back and he said “Si”. Dee decided it would be a good idea if Allen, the Pedi-Cab Operator and I sat in the back and she pedalled us back. There was easily 600+ lbs in the back of the Pedi-Cab between the 3 guys and Dee got about foot and a ½ before the handle bar and front wheel of the Pedi-Cab swung towards the right and we coasted into the side of a Delivery Van on the side of the road. Dee’s Pedi-Cab Operator Career over she joined Allen and I in the back for the 5-minute ride back to the Port. It was at least 90 F this afternoon and although it was only a 5-minute ride the Pedi-Cab Operator was struggling throughout the trip. Back at the Port we gave him a Good Tip and made our way over to the Line where we met up with Rick and Laurie, Shelly and Jimmy and Pam and a Couple of Military Fellows and waited for our Tender. "So this Van just jumped right in front of us" While waiting we snapped a couple of pictures of this guy Back on-board I went up to our Cabin to drop off our Stuff while Dee headed to the Lido to grab us a snack with a plan for the 2 of us to meet at Terry and Sue’s Aft Wrap Balcony Cabin for Sail-Away. Conclusion #506: Another plan gone sideways – I had a 4-hour Siesta being tired form carrying all those Heavy Drinks.:) The last thing I remember seeing until Dinner

vanislandcruisers Posted June 10, 2012 Author #90 Share Posted June 10, 2012 Dee came up to the Cabin about 6:30pm and we had a drink and then began getting ready for Dinner and the 2nd Elegant Night. Having learned my lesson after the first Elegant Night I had sent my pants and shirt out to be pressed. When they came back and I hung the clothes up I must have knocked the pants off of the Hanger because they were laying at the bottom of the closet. Conclusion #507: Irony is the opposite of Wrinkly. After a quick trip the Guest Laundry Room we were ready to head down to the Casino Bar for a pre-dinner drink. That done we made our way to the Dining Room for dinner where between us and the other 4 at our Table we enjoyed Wine, Crown, Grey Goose, Food, Dessert, the Performance from the Dining Room Staff and an after Dinner Cappuccino. Dinner finished we made our way to the Casino Bar, then the Piano Bar for a little time with Russell before having our earliest night of our Vacation. We more than made up for it the next day. vanislandcruisers Posted June 11, 2012 Author #95 Share Posted June 11, 2012 Mimis, Hats, a Beer Run and a Glowing Home Party Having had our first full night’s sleep in a week Dee and I actually got up at the same time and made our way out to the Balcony and met up with Donna and Dan and Lynne and Peewee on our 3-Cabin wide Balcony. The Mimosas or Mimis as Donna likes to call them, were already flowing so we grabbed a bottle of champagne from our Cabin, added some OJ and joined the early morning Party. Conclusion #508: Vitamin C intake is important to us. We spent an hour or so reminiscing about our week and laughing lots as we relived the events of the previous 7 days. We also talked about an 8-day group Cruise that Lynne had just set up on the Carnival Miracle out of Fort Lauderdale which would set sail on February 14th, 2012. Because it was a Valentine’s Day departure it was aptly named VD at Sea – The Miracle Cure. Once Lynne let us know who all was booked and that the Ports were Grand Turk, Catalina Island in the Dominican Republic, Aruba and Curacao we knew we were in and booked on the Monday after we got back to Victoria. Dan & Coral, Karl and Tammi and Mo & Nicole did the same. As sad as the last day sometimes is we knew we had still had to make the best of it and quickly turned our attention to do just that. Showers were next and then a trip up to the Lido Deck for a late breakfast and to see what everyone else was up to . We grabbed a couple of omelets and then made our way to the Lido Aft and joined up with the Yoopers for some spicy breakfast Caesars – the Canadian equivalent of a Bloody Mary. We had a couple hours before our Beer Run so we relaxed, enjoyed the Company and took in the sights of the Pacific. It was a little rough as we were heading North and the Carnival Splendor was swaying quite a bit so we just made sure we had a big swig out of each Caesar as soon as we got it to make sure we didn’t spill any. Conclusion #509: Can’t stand Alcohol Abuse. At 1:00pm we grabbed our Silly Hats and made our way to the Atrium Bar for our Beer Run. The plan was to visit 10 bars and have a drink and a Group Picture taken at each Bar. Mark, who was the Beer Run Leader had fashioned a Carnival Staff Uniform and Nametag out of his Charlie Sheen ‘Shirt’, his Ship Pin, a little piece of Cardboard and a Safety Pin. While Gordie - Our Sargeant-At-Arms was appropriately adorned in a Chicken Hat and brought along a Tamborine Terry our VPBR - Vice-President of Beer Run had on his Mr. Happy Shirt and a Rooster Tail Hat 1st Drink and Picture at the Atrium Bar along with our Bartender
vanislandcruisers Posted June 11, 2012 Author #96 Share Posted June 11, 2012 While travelling between each Bar we were singing the ‘B-double E double R U-N Beer Run’ song: B-double E double R U-N beer run B-double E double R U-N beer run all we need is a ten and five-er, a car and key and a sober driver. B-double E double R U-N beer run A couple of frat guys from Abilene drove out all night to see Robert Earl Keen at the KPIG Swine and Sworea Dance. They wore baseball caps and khaki pants. They wanted cigarettes, so to save a little money they bought one off this hippie that smelled kinda funny. And next thing they knew they were both pretty hungry and pretty thirsty too B-double E double R U-N beer run B-double E double R U-N beer ru-unn All we need is a ten and five-er, car and key and an able driver. B-double E double R U-N beer run They found a store with a sign that said their beer was coldest. So they sent in Brad 'cause he looked the oldest. He got a case of beer and a candy bar, walked over to where all the registers are laid his fake I.D. on the counter top. The clerk looked, and turned to look back up and stopped. He said "Son, I ain't gonna call the cops, but I'm gonna have to keep this card" the guys both took it pretty hard. B-double E double R U-N beer run B-double E double R U-N beer ru-un oh how happy we would be- had we only brought a better fake I.D. B-double E double R U-N-beer run They met another old hippie named Sleepy John, claimed to be the one from the Robert Earl song. So they gave him all their cash-he bought em some brews. Was a beautiful day out in Santa Cruz They were feelin' so good it shoulda been a crime. The crowd was cool, and the band was prime. They made it back up front to their seats just in time to they could sing with all their friends "the road goes on forever and the party never ends". B-double E double R U-N beer run all we need is a ten and a five-er car and key and a sober driver. B-double E double R U-N beer run B-double E double R U-N beer run Well singing the entire song was the plan but as you can imagine it ended up being just the chorus we were singing. We spent about a ½ hour at each Bar. After the Atrium Bar we made our way towards the Royal Flush Casino Bar. 2nd Drink & Picture at the Royal Flush Casino Bar 3rd Drink & picture was at the Splendido Lido Bar Next up was the Our House Sports Bar for our 4th Drink & Picture The Beer Run Crew grew as we went along as others from our Group joined in By the 5th Bar - the Red Carpet Dance Club we had added a few more from our Group The 6th Bar & picture was the El Morocco Aft Lounge Bar and Picture 7 found us at the Robusto Bar

vanislandcruisers Posted June 11, 2012 Author #98 Share Posted June 11, 2012 Being 3 Hours and for some of us 7 drinks in to this Event the craziness really started at the Robusto Bar. It was Roy’s Birthday so some of the Ladies did a Grope Picture with him. And Team Shelly and Team Jimmy got into the Mix. For several years Shelly has been asking Jimmy for an Engagement Ring – it has become an ongoing joke amongst our Group with most of the Ladies being on Team Shelly and most, not all, of the guys firmly planted on Team Jimmy, Conclusion #510: Go Team Shelly. Jimmy had fashioned a ring out of the Wire from a Champagne bottle and a Button and chose our time in the Robusto Bar to get down on one knee and make his Indecent Proposal. Dee's brother, Dan, ended up performing ther Indecent Marriage Ceremony of Jimmy and Shelly in the Chapel just after our 2-hour Group Cocktail Reception on our recent Carnival Miracle. Someone tried to swipe their Bar Card with the Stripe in the wrong place. Conclusion #511: It was Azz Backwards. They used so much force they nearly ‘cracked the card’
