Carnival Splendor Journal with Pics - Tequila, Dolphins, Microphones and a Bar Card

Recommended Posts

What an AWESOME place the Cheeky Monkey turned out to be!!!! Their Drink Menu featured $1 dollar beers (Corona, Pacifico and Modelo Light) and $1 House Margaritas as well as a choice of 51 different Tequilas if you had a taste for something fancier as well as their ‘Very Expensive $2 Drink Menu’ if you didn’t like Tequila.

This guy LOVED the Menu too!!!

Conclusion #475: The have a Food Menu too.

They also have what is Advertised as the ‘World’s Most Expensive Margarita’ priced at $100.

We had a BLAST at the Cheeky Monkey; the Staff - AMAZING,

Joyce with 1 of our Waiters

...the Food – there was food???...

the View – INCREDIBLE,

the Sunset – GORGEOUS,

the Company – the BEST.

A few of us had to make our way to the Hard Rock Café to get our Souvenirs so after the Sun set we headed down the Malecon towards Av. Presidente Diaz Ordaz.

Dee and I got our Hurricane Glass, Drumsticks for Dee’s boys and the Signature Bear for my daughter while the others purchased what they came for. Errands done we found a Bar.

The prices at this place were outrageous compared to the Cheeky Monkey so after a round of drinks we made our way back there.

Another couple hours of drinks had us ready to catch some Cabs back to the Carnival Splendor as we were scheduled to sail away at midnight PV Time (11:00pm Ship Time). Vicki, Dee and I hopped into the Backseat of the first Cab while Joyce hopped in the front seat. The 3 ladies were absolutely drooling over the Cab Driver

– apparently he was good looking. Conclusion #476: He did nothing for me. A very, very hydrated Joyce was talking his ear off in the front seat to which all he said was “Si”. Conclusion #477: His brother works at Aquaventuras Park Vallarta”

Arriving at the Port area we paid our fare and gave him a good tip (Joyce may have given him a squeeze too) and made our way through the Security Gate and then found a bench to wait for the other 7 to arrive. Sitting there we realized what a GREAT day we had just had and Dee and I both talked about the fact that we would not hesitate to do a land vacation to Puerto Vallarta. The other 2 Cabs arrived so we made our way over to the Gangway

and were back on board at 10:35 Ship Time :D for our 11:00pm Sail-Away.

Joyce, Lynne, Peewee, Dee and I took the Elevator up to Deck 10 and headed to our respective Cabins to drop our Stuff off and were greeted by our 4th Towel Animal so we took some pictures. We then made our way down to Deck 5 to see what was happening where ran into Dan and Coral and immediately asked them “Where were you guys today?” Before they answered it became obvious to us that they and the rest of the Canadians had put their Bar Cards to good use during the day. Coral had us in stitches telling us how the start of their day went. This was another case of us not remembering that not only was this their first Cruise it was also their first Adult trip anywhere with the exception of Vegas. Said very quickly with hands waving - “We were getting off the Ship and got our picture taken…..and, and, and then, then the heat…OMG…the heat, the freakin’ heat… we started walking and the next think I know I have a Parrot on my shoulder biting my breast and a freakin’ donkey on my lap…OMG…they wouldn’t leave us alone…we, we, we went and sat in the shade for a bit …and then started walking…and then the big snake…and a Lion Cub…OMG….We got back on the Ship and started drinking…WE DRANK ALL DAY!!!… and then we walked to Wal Mart this afternoon”. We were laughing so hard during Coral’s rant and to this day every time we think of her describing them getting off the Ship we can’t help but smile. We told them to stick close to us for the next 2 ports and we’d take care of them. They weren’t all that disappointed about not seeing much of Puerto Vallarta until Dee and I started to describe the day we had.

An hour of Drinks, Blackjack and Slots in the Casino, followed by an hour of Drinks and Songs in the Piano Bar with Russell Villarin and an hour of Drinks and Dancing in the Dance Club had us ready for a late night trip to the 24-hour Pizza Station on the Lido Deck for a Calzone before calling it a night and heading to our Cabin.

I got the Bar Card' date=' just to try to fit in with the "cool kids", but the only thing I used it for was as a bookmark in my Bible so I could find my place easily in the Bible Study sessions I attended.[/quote']

Our son was almost 6, our first family vacation, he is now 20. Thank you so much for the beautifull photo's. Damn, a few things have changed at the 'ol Camino...but now with these pix's, we do have to go back.
