Terrence Richards Posted June 7, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 7, 2012 My wife and I had a wonderful experience on the Disney Magic on the inaugural cruise from May 25 to June 2, roundtrip from New York City to Nassau, Bahamas; Disney's private island, Castaway Cay, and Port Canaveral for Disney World. This was our first time on a Disney ship. We were thrilled by the typical Disney experience of entertaining their guests to the utmost. The Disney Magic will be sailing out of New York City for several months. If you have never had a Disney experience with your family and children, this is the way to do it. awaywego0000 Posted June 8, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 8, 2012 We will be going in July. We were hoping this would be just as good, if not better than staying in Orlando for a week. Happy to hear you had such a wonderful time.
DKNYC Posted June 9, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 9, 2012 Hi Terrence So it seems you are convinced that Disney cruises are OK for adults. :) I see there maybe some deals to be had on the Canada 5day trips in September. I might actually book one as I would have no airfare to worry about. I think you got me. Plus Goofy is waiting. Denise

Disney cruises are more than OK for adults. There is no casino and the night life ends a little earlier than the other lines, but it works for us. Thanks Shellyc & Terry That Sept 2 cruise is exactly the one I am thinking about booking. I have never been to those ports although I am doing it to see the ship mostly. Not a gambler or party animal really so no problem there. Always wanted to eat dinner at the dining room where the colors come up during the meal. Plus the price is significantly less for these sailings in September ( a good thing as I am a solo). By the way I am in my early 50's and can take advantage of the holiday weekend for less time off work. And best of all no airfare or airports for me.:D Denise (FOG~ Friend of Goofy)
Motivatedgirl72 Posted June 11, 2012 #8 Share Posted June 11, 2012 Hi Terrence! It's so nice to read that you had a great cruise on the Magic! I'm also going to go on that same itinerary leaving NY on June 30th. I'm really looking forward to it! I'm wondering if you remember which night they have the Pirate night on this itinerary? I can't seem to find that anywhere online. Also I wonder if they're going to do anything special for the 4th of July :) I'll be onboard for Canada Day too! Lots to celebrate! Thanks for your help! NYGirl1002 Posted June 11, 2012 #9 Share Posted June 11, 2012 I was on that same cruise. Pirate night was Monday, after the day in Nassau. I believe that's considered Day 3 if you don't count embarkation day.

Hi, Motivatedgirl, I was on the 8 day Bahama cruise. I boarded on Friday, had two days at sea, and arrived in Nassau, Bahamas, on Monday, May 28. That evening for dinner was "Pirates Night". We were in the Parrot's Cay Restaurant for the first sitting at 5:45 PM. The pirate's celebration took place there. (I will attempt a photo attachment.) Many families had their pirate outfits on for the evening. At our dinner table, our servers brought us two pirate scarves to wear. Everyone in the restaurant received them also. At 10 PM, that evening, there was a music and video show on Deck Nine near the outdoor pool area near the red funnel. After an appearance by Mickey Mouse on wire from one funnel to the other, there were fireworks from the ship. You may be able to get your daily schedule at the Disney website and with the mailing you receive from Disney. By the way, Captain Hook and Jack Sparrow are around that evening for photos. I'm glad to learn that they are still doing it. :)

We have the same itinerary but are leaving on a Saturday followed by two sea days and then Nassau. I'll keep my eyes open for Mickey and others outside that night! I'm ready to go now!! Have a great day!

Danvers14 Posted June 12, 2012 #15 Share Posted June 12, 2012 Although my wife and I have cruised 20+ times, this will be our 1st with Disney. We're taking two of our grandchildren (6 &10) There are so many activity options for the kids, we'd welcome any and all recommendations. We've booked an Atlantis beach day, is the beach nice? Are there other beaches? Thanks for any replies. Bob & Diane Danvers, MA

Bob & Diane Danvers, MA Hi Bob & Diane, The mailings you receive from Disney before your voyage will provide you with plenty of information about what to expect on board. Your grandchildren will not be disappointed with the activities that are provided for them each day according to their age group. The evening shows in the Walt Disney Theatre for everyone are wonderful. Do not miss them. Get ready for a lot of photos with the Disney characters if you wish to purchase them. I have been to Atlantis several times. You will find the beach and the surrounding area very nicely kept and beautiful. You can see the Atlantis from the ship's stern when it docks at Nassau. Have a great time with your grandchildren, especially during dinner time also. Terrence
Donna_In_India Posted June 13, 2012 #17 Share Posted June 13, 2012 We were on the June 2nd Bahamas cruise and had an absolutely fantastic time, in large part due to my 3 yr old daughter's excitement. We were so busy (too many times waiting for photos with the characters) yet we had such a relaxing time. We spent our day in Nassau on the beach (hot & humid!!) and loved our time on Castaway Cay. With a few exceptions, Disney delivers! And the service and interactions from/with everyone (characters & princesses too!) could not have been better. We couldn't resist the great deal for booking the Fantasy while on board and I'm really looking forward to that cruise!

Hi Alex and Nessa, How wonderful to be able to do a B2B. Once you finish with the warmer climate you can look forward to a cooler climate. Here is a silly question: Did Disney give you any discount for the B2B voyages? Terrence

Terrence Not a silly question at all. :) Some cruiselines do give a discount for B2B sailings. Unfortunately, Disney is not one of them. :(
