Mancunian99 Posted June 9, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 9, 2012 How are P & O getting away with fuel surcharges. Iv'e read a few blogs or threads in the last day or two referring to recent surcharges. The global price of oil has fallen over 20% in the last couple of months and is still falling. Is the tactic to recover monies from discounting to the fill the ships? BrianI Posted June 9, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 9, 2012 Fuel surcharges only apply to new bookings and presumably built into the price quoted. There are no restrospective surcharges or at least I did not have to pay anymore in April when the oil price was higher than it is now Brian
kentona Posted June 9, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 9, 2012 It did annoy me slightly when booking our cruise today, that we was charge £72 a person for fuel when as you say the price is falling.

P&O (Carnival) may well have committed to buying fuel at a high price, gambling that it would go even higher. If so they have got it wrong, so far, hence the surcharge.
