jeanine Posted June 15, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 15, 2012 On our cruise at our level it says sold out, not wait list. Does this mean they won't accept anymore bookings for that level? What does it mean for us? We have booked a gty. Would they still possibly offer us an upgrade if someone wants that cabin level? There are still cabins at upper levels available. Thanks for the info. Yes, Sold Out means that they have stopped taking bookings for that level of cabin, but because the least and the most expensive cabins on Oceania ships always sell out first, that is fairly typical. The Sales Dept. must now decide if it is more cost effective to give increased incentives to new passengers who may book in the higher categories, or to get you guys moved up so that more lower cost cabins can come back into the marketplace. One of the reasons why Cruise Lines sell Guarantees in the first place is because it gives them that kind of flexibility. You may be asked, for example, if you would like to move to a more deluxe cabin at discounted rate. This is called an upsell. As you can imagine, these Upsell offers are VERY time sensitive, as a matter of fact, they seldom last longer than a telephone call. For that reason, if you have a serious interest in changing cabins, you may want to discuss what kind of deal you would be open to with your Travel Agent (along the lines of "I'll pay up to $200 more, per person, to move up to a Category B"). Alternately, you may decline any upgrades that will cost you more money, and just hope that Oceania REALLY NEEDS to resell your cabin. Good luck and Enjoy your cruise! :D
