Sargent_Schultz Posted June 15, 2012 #51 Share Posted June 15, 2012 HA HA HA. So says the man who would just about need to change his shorts if he could kiss up to JH on a cruise (even if it was a hologram). You are correct when you say entertainment doesn't generate direct income. However, I am more likely to buy drinks if I am enjoying some great live music. I have no need to and whether or not you purchase drinks, or for that matter cruise, has no impact on Carnival's bottom line.
rdler Posted June 15, 2012 #52 Share Posted June 15, 2012 Who are all these people who say, to perfectly reasonably comments things like, "Bye, enjoy the other lines" or "Drop it already" or "just GO already!"? How can these people be rude. I gather that one sat too long sitting on a porter, and another is a wench, but come on people, folks can have opinions without being rude. Pinkfloydfan Posted June 15, 2012 #53 Share Posted June 15, 2012 Perhaps not, but still some will. Customers can choose those ships that do. IMO, choosing a cruise for music is as absurd as picking a cruise because of the cruise director. Or perhaps who isn't. It is all subject to change, with or without notice, at any time. Entertainment doesn't generate any direct revenue, unless there is an additional charge for it. It is overhead. Carnival isn't eliminating entertainment but transitioning to more options. Same with more food options. Choices. Having multiple competing options, helps to distribute the passengers over more of the ship. IMO, choosing a cruise to take photos of food and menus is absurd:D;):) but I do enjoy looking at them! Thank you Sargent Schultz.

They are the people who are love Carnival blindly as if they were their family. They react as if someone made a joke about their mother. You're welcome and thank you. I never choose a cruise based on food. That would be absurd. Sometimes I order items that I wouldn't, just to take a picture, and usually do at least try them, but order what I want, as well. I try to give the people what they want. :)

drosphot Posted June 15, 2012 #63 Share Posted June 15, 2012 Carnival is pathetic for cutting the bands and ruining cruising with its cheapened product. 10 cruises on Carnival and NEVER again until the 4 piece calypso/reggae AND party bands are back. Ok got your preference checked off. NEXT!
larkz Posted June 16, 2012 #64 Share Posted June 16, 2012 Hmmm. This must be the reason that so many Carnival ships sail half-empty. Not. I think I'll issue a manifesto to Carnival today, since it appears to be the popular thing to do. I demand Goth Nights in the MDR to replace the semi-elegant nights. I demand punk music on the Lido. I demand that my cabin be painted black. And I want them to block out the sun from all decks. Or so help me, I'll think about considering possibly maybe leaving Carnival forever, or at least for a limited time, depending!

Earthworm Jim Posted June 16, 2012 #67 Share Posted June 16, 2012 Seriously, if the musicians had real talent, they wouldn't be playing on cruise ships. By that logic, no entertainment Carnival provides can be any good, because if the comedians, dancers, etc. were any good, they wouldn't be on a cruise ship. If the entertainment is pathetic, and people retire for the night early, I will make my own entertainment......................in the casino. :):p:eek: Yikes! Don't say that!!! If Carnival thinks cutting entertainment will lead to us spending more time in the casino, they'll drop all entertainment, skip the meals, close the pools, and board up the windows to block the view just to get us all in there.:p

Another ship trip Posted June 16, 2012 #72 Share Posted June 16, 2012 Ok AST - you have to tell me what part of the Great State of Texas you are from? DH made his way through college pretending to be David Lee Roth or Jani Lane (yikes) - leg warmers and all (double yikes). We spend all of our time seeking good live music. Although what is offered on the ship is not necessarily considered "good" - we still enjoy what is offered. We have also learned that you can just about two step to anything! :DGive me a good "glam rock ballad" - and I can make a two step work (LOL) - We are in the west Houston/Katy area but will occasionally travel for good music. I have awesome seats to Aerosmith this summer, one of my favorite all time bands, and can't wait. I had second row in about 1979 to Van Halen and they were awesome. Got a pick from Eddie VH. They say you never really stray from the music that you loved growing up as a teen and mine was definitely the rock music, though I have spent many hours on the dance floor two steppin. RRLLAL Posted June 16, 2012 #74 Share Posted June 16, 2012 i smell a carnival conspiracy. make things bad enough and people will wish it away. or hide events in small print, like the farewell party, and cancel them due to poor turnout. come up with poor excuses, like there's not not enough berths on the bigger ships for the entertainers to sleep, so they have to cut them back. have a couple or 5 paid cheerleader posters say these changes are a positive thing for the line, including one that makes income from his pictures. the list goes on.... .....and your streak goes on.
