needabreakcanada Posted June 18, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 18, 2012 Our cruise final payment is tuesday. I can see which rooms are currently available and was wondering the following: If there are more inside rooms available than balconies will they price drop the inside rooms first? THanks,
Rare Tapi Posted June 18, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 18, 2012 Our cruise final payment is tuesday. I can see which rooms are currently available and was wondering the following: If there are more inside rooms available than balconies will they price drop the inside rooms first? THanks, There's truly no rhyme or reason (at least one that makes sense to us, the general public). You can only see a "sample" of the cabins currently available in each category, so there's no real way of knowing specifically how many cabins are still available. In addition, on some sailings, a specific category may be in higher demand than on other sailings (for example, balconies might be more coveted in Alaska, while inside cabins might be more popular on inexpensive short Bahamas cruises), so Carnival may keep prices high on those categories even if there are many cabins still left because they know that they will eventually sell. Price drops will be based on what Carnival projects for each sailing. If at a specific number of days before departure they've sold less cabins than projected, prices drop. If they've sold more, prices go up. If a sale triggers a large number of cabins to sell, then the prices jump up. All you can truly do is sit there and watch the prices fluctuate....:o
golfadj Posted June 18, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 18, 2012 Its all a matter of supply and demand as Carnival works to fill the ship. They have a sophisticated computer model that works to maximize revenue.
MomofBoyz Posted June 18, 2012 #4 Share Posted June 18, 2012 We are booked on a 6D for the fall and every other OV room has dropped except level 6, which has increased $20! The 6A category has dropped $50. I think, like someone else said, it's supply and demand. However, I'm still hoping that by October, we get a little break! needabreakcanada Posted June 18, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted June 18, 2012 Is there a good strategy for upgrading? Better after final payment? Watching amount of rooms? Any tips? Thanks
