thescot123 Posted June 24, 2012 #26 Share Posted June 24, 2012 Getting the same warnings from McAfee SiteAdvisor plugin in Firefox. When I click the icon, which takes me to Siteadvisor, it shows that cruisecritic.com is clean. It is not a big deal for me since I always run the browser in a sandbox. This means any virus that appears cannot infect my windows system as it is sandboxed. There is a program called sandboxie which adds that extra layer of security. I also used Eset Nod32 (anitvirus) and the paid version of MalwareBytes. Both of these perform website inspection and block rogue sites, none are warning about cruise critic. serendipity1499 Posted June 25, 2012 #27 Share Posted June 25, 2012 IE renders pages terribly and is vulnerable to attacks moreso than the other browsers. They are easy to install, just download the file abd open/run it. :) AVG is good, I just prefer the other two. Norton/McAfee install so much bloat on computes it slows them down considerably sometimes. whatever you use, have it auto update and active monitoring. Installing MalwareBytes to scan your computer every week or so is also highly recommended. I only use IE when I update my Win 7 box. Find out how to tighten up your internet settings. There are many websites that will show you how. I use the latest updated Firefox. Do a search on a search engine for "host file". You will learn a lot of useful stuff. I used AVG until it borked my machine. I use MSE now. Use what you like. If you use Internet Explorer 8 or 9 and keep your computer current with Microsoft patches and you keep your AV up to date you will have no issues at all. I prefer IE over FireFox but also have it installed. Instructions for changing your setting to automatic patching can be found on the Microsoft site http://support.microsoft.com/kb/306525 Thank you everyone..Looks like I'm going to have to talk to my Computer Tech.. Cheers...Betty
