AEGBRG Posted June 27, 2012 #1 Share Posted June 27, 2012 Hi everyone, Question for those of you who have disembarked in Istanbul and headed straight to the airport: are there taxis available at the port and do they accept cards? What might be problematic is that there are 5 of us, so we would need a van/SUV. Also, can anyone recommend any private transfer companies they have used if a taxi would not work? Last, how far is the port to Ataturk and roughly how much does it cost? Thanks in advance.
Rare John Bull Posted June 27, 2012 #2 Share Posted June 27, 2012 We used Istanbul Airport Express, also seen them recommended on CC & elsewhere, a regular sedan at €20 one-way. No front money required, pay driver cas., don't know about cards. On-time, good vehicle, good service. You'll probably need a van at €50. Also seen backpackers recommended on CC. Journey time 30 to 50 mins, traffic is very variable. Don't rely on a taxi at the port, they're a bunch of sharks who screw cruisers for what they can get. survivor1 Posted June 29, 2012 #3 Share Posted June 29, 2012 We also used Istanbul Airport Express and we were very happy with the service. Booking was so easy to use, when we arrived our driver was there waiting and greeted us with a smile! He was so helpful and made conversation putting myself and the party instantly at ease. Our return transfer was equally as excellent. A friendly helpful driver who made us laugh and made conversation, arrived on time and let us sit back and relax while he loaded on our heavy suitcases! I would recommend them to anyone looking for a quick, good value and reliable service! Istanbul is the most photographically inspiring city!
