How bad does the port of embarkation have to be before a cruise is cancelled?

We are from Northern California and cruiing out Port Canaveral on July 7th and again from Tampa on July 14th. How bad does the port of embarkation have to be before a cruise is cancelled or postponed? We have never cruised in the summer before and understand that ships sail around storms and modify their itineraries. But I was just wondering what happens if the weather gets really bad.

Thanks.
