JerseyTimeTraveller Posted May 11, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 11, 2005 Can you board a transatlantic cruise in Southampton and then get off to shop etc in Southampton, returning to the ship before the departure time ? or is there a left luggage at the dock that can be used before formally boarding.? PRINSENDAM Posted May 11, 2005 #2 Share Posted May 11, 2005 Can you board a transatlantic cruise in Southampton and then get off to shop etc in Southampton, returning to the ship before the departure time ? or is there a left luggage at the dock that can be used before formally boarding.? The basic answer is no. You cannot board and then disembark to go shopping. Boarding is usually too close to sailing time and you wouldn't want to miss that! What I would suggest is that you arrive at the pier at a reasonable early time and drop off your baggage. There are people there to take it and you don't have to go through embarkation proceedures at that time. Just don't arrive too early because they will still be trying top clear the arriving passengers. So, drop off the baggage and if you have kept the taxi, head back into Southampton to do your shopping. Don't leave it too late to come back to the ship. You shoukd be back at the terminal no later than TWO hours before departure. It takes time to get checked in and get on board. If you leave it too late you will be missing the thrill of getting to know the ship before sailaway. Stephen
