LoveThisCruisingThing Posted July 30, 2012 #1 Share Posted July 30, 2012 Lat night when I checked the bridge camera, it said that the Star was headed to Ketchikan or Juneau. This morning it says the Star is headed towards Seattle. Is this a glitch or did something happen?
Cruz-OR Posted July 30, 2012 #2 Share Posted July 30, 2012 Maybe the bridge cam got bumped and pointed in the wrong direction.
Old Feller Posted July 30, 2012 #3 Share Posted July 30, 2012 I think something was off with the cam. I was checking last week and it said it was heading to Juneau 2 days in a row, so I stopped checking.
SweetpeaOne Posted July 30, 2012 #4 Share Posted July 30, 2012 I really hope the cam is wrong. I board her this Sunday. I think it is wrong. It was messed up last week also.

Cruiserkenn Posted July 31, 2012 #6 Share Posted July 31, 2012 This morning's bridge cam from the Star definitely shows Ketchikan, even though the caption still says Seattle. It's all good!
Cruiserkenn Posted July 31, 2012 #7 Share Posted July 31, 2012 They have now changed the caption to "Alongside Ketchikan"

Good timing - weather is supposed to be nice on Sunday finally (80). But beware that Sunday is Seafair Day - the hydroplane races (southend of Seattle) and lots of other activities. ChiefBoats Posted July 31, 2012 #9 Share Posted July 31, 2012 The bridge cams are sometime not correct. Just looked at the Star sitting in Ketchikan and is scheduled in Tracy Arm and Juneau tomorrow. Go to KPU Ketechikan Webcam site any you can watch them come and go live.

Is the "beware" meant to be taken literally for some reason?

The Star is in Tracy Arm this morning, and it is transmitting fab pix of Tracy Arm! The caption mentions Juneau, where they will be this afternoon. Check it out, if you can :)

DesertWindTX Posted August 1, 2012 #14 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Hubby has been updating me frequently, as he is watching the web cam in prep for our cruise on September 2. It just kind of creeped up on us that it is only 32 days!
Sandy Sails Posted August 1, 2012 #15 Share Posted August 1, 2012 Do these races take place around where the ship sails out of Seattle? Is the "beware" meant to be taken literally for some reason? The "beware" was just for drama, lol. The hydro races are south of Seattle at the south end of Lake Washington. The cruise ship terminal is at the north end of downtown Seattle on Puget Sound. The Blue Angels will be doing an air show over the area and traffic will basically be pretty bad (worse than normal). I would suggest sticking close to the downtown waterfront and Pike Place Market. Take the Monorail to the Seattle Center and back. Just don't drive.
Old Feller Posted August 2, 2012 #16 Share Posted August 2, 2012 Thanks for the advice!! I think bad traffic makes it very worthy of a dramatic "beware". ;)
