Put your toothbrush in the safe? WHY??

I did a search here on cruise critic for a packing list a few days ago. I'm just going over it now, and I found the strangest thing listed under Cabin/Clothing Tips. It says:

"Lock your toothbrush in your safe when you leave your cabin."

I'm almost afraid to ask, but.............WHY???

In case someone does "something" with it.

I have not kept my toothbrush in my bathroom even at home since I saw a documentary where they swabbed a reg home bathroom.

Go to Snopes dot com and search for tooth brush bandits:eek:

This is basically an urban legend with many versions having sprung up over the years including one in which the hotel housekeeper gets back at a difficult customer.

I seriously doubt that inside of a safe is any cleaner...it doesn't usually get cleaned, and people put money, wallets and other things in there that collect more germs than almost any surface in the bathroom (no, I'm not taking the whole toilet-cleaning scenario seriously :) )

In case you accidentally lock yourself inside the safe you'll still be able to brush your teeth?

Even at home our toothbrushes are in a special toothbrush house on the bathroom counter. They say bad things float around even when you flush.

Then you touch that special house when you get you toothbrush I presume.

JEEZ...........................this board is so entertaining. Now let me think of where I will hide my toothbrush in the future. I do though have a toothbrush holder that I always put my toothbrush in. Guess I am safe or am I?

Does it have a lock and key?
