How is the stingray tour on Half Moon Cay? How deep is the water? Is it suitable for a non swimmer? How does it compare to the one on Grand Cayman? Is it better to take it in the morning or afternoon? I am asking this because of the lighting. Any information would by appreciated.

The stingray excursion on HMC is NOTHING compared to the one on Grand Cayman (aka Nativeway). The area is quite small and the rays are "penned in" so to speak and don't have free run of the lagoon like they do with the sandbar at GC. They almost looked a bit sad just floating there on HMC. HAL either needs to expand the area that they are using for this excursion or let these poor things loose. :(

The HMC excursion might be the way to go for you. There is a staircase into the water and it is shallow. There is a staff member who feeds the rays and teaches you to feed them properly. They ask that you not stand to preserve the coral bottom. You are next to the shore and can enter/exit at your leisure. It seems more controlled than Grand Cayman since this is a shallow area instead of a sandbar out in the ocean. At HMC there is a changing facility & restroom and deck that is great for viewing the "action" in the lagoon. So even people who don't really want to fully participate can still see their family having their (smaller scale) experience. I didn't find it sad to see almost prehistoric smaller stingrays enclosed. Although I do find it sad to enclose intelligent dolphins for people's enjoyment.
