OK, I'm still off topic but, If Carnival decides they want Jazz they don't have to even hire 3 people. My brother is a professional Jazz musician here in OKC. He has a BA in Jazz music and he's a one man band. He has computers programed with the accompanyment on his keyboard which he can trigger with just a few key strokes and then sets the percussion also on his key board. Then he just plays his horns along with that. He plays just about anything you can blow into. Sort of cool to see him when he's doing a show surrounded by 2 keyboards, a computer and about 10 different horns on their stands. He sometimes plays 3 different horns in a single piece of music. Carnival would have to offer enough to attract him away from his steady gig as he has a sweet deal playing 5 times a week for a Brazilian Resturant here. I really enjoy hearing my brother play but I don't know how many Jazz fans there are on the typical Carnival ship. Like you there are probably more fans of the more modern music.

To stay off topic for a bit longer.

I agree about not many Jazz fans.

On our Spirit cruise in March they had a few members of the show band doing Jazz by the dining room and very few people seemed to be interested.

I, for one, would enjoy some country. I also think more current/contemporary music would go over well.

BTW some very interesting comments.

And thank you for the personal attack.

Class and manners has no place on CC.

Off topic too..but who's keeping track.

You are beating a dead horse...but tell me what kind of Music does Cruise for Music want...It looks like everyone who responds to you is doing a "personal attack".LOL...Dennis

Please read post #728 about the music.

Feel free to disagree/respond to what I post.

But calling people bleeped out names ( Wow, what a total ****!!) and getting personal and nasty because they don't like your position on something is wrong.

Class and manners seem to be in short supply on some threads.

He just informed us as quoted above that he likes country and contemporary. Alot of folks do. They had some of the entertainment staff teaching country line dancing one afternoon on my last Carnival cruise. It was VERY popular!

You are not gonna hear a lot of country music on any cruise except for maybe the guy on the Promanade by the casino...and you are one to talk about class and manners...You are a great candidate for my rapidly expanding ignore list...Dennis

Certainly I can't be the only one who sees your CC member name, then reads your ironic comment, and suddenly thinks Wow, what a total ****!!

.

I am very happy to see both the Steel Drum Band and Jazz trios go.

I consider that a real upgrade as I do more casual dress options and comfort food options.

I'm sure there must be some fine cruise lines that have a crowd old enough to want a jazz trio.

And unlike some of you I vote with my dollars, not just post on CC.

The simple fact is many of you love to hate Carnival but still spend your dollars with Carnival.

I was laughing about that too, Don, and was wondering what genre this poster enjoys? Oh, I see, Country.

Ms B - spending dollars wherever I want.

And I'm wondering what her original CC name was...I know that term "personal attacks" sounds very familar and she likes to use it....Dennis

Wow so someone suggests a different type of music they get bashed?

It was the irony of their CC user name and their critique of the cruise line offering Jazz Music. Pretty funny, I'm still laughing. You can't stop my laughter. BWHAAAAHAHAHAHAHAHahhahahahahahah - so there.

Check out the band "Revolver" on the Paradise right now.

Or Doug Trask on the Spirit.

Both the above are doing country on Carnival right now.

I would do a search and get a general idea, but it's late and I have a kitchen renovation to work on the morning. :D

Because I don't think Jazz plays well on cruise ships in 2012?

BTW I am a 61YO male.

And been a member of CC almost 2 years.

Folks will, of course, make up anything they like.

I'm amazed the stuff you have to take when you don't toe the company line.

I'm like you. I really enjoy the Karaoke! Carnival still has all the entertainment options that any of the other major cruise lines have so I don't see a problem. If you don't like Karaoke there are at least 4 other forms of entertainment going on at the same time on any given evening on a Carnival ship. The only thing they lack is ball room dancing (which you find on Celebrity) and Ice skating shows (which you find on RCCL).

Really? REALLY??? Yes, RCL has an ice skating show, CCL doesn't, but CCL still doesn't have much.

I just booked the Allure.

The Allure has an acrobat type show- CCL doesn't

They have daily parades- CCL doesn't

It has a diving show- CCL doesn't

It has a Broadway show- CCL doesn't

It has a free 3d theater- CCL doesn't

CCL has cut, cut , cut , cut their entertainment. They used to have entertainers flown in, not anymore! The rest we all know. Playing the colors games, watching cheap cruiser participation nonsense like the Legends and Marriage game is nonsense. When I pay for a cruise, I want to see professionals entertain.

We are sailing on the Liberty the end of Sept. We also just saw the FTTF perk and thought it would be fun to try it. We usually arrive at the port early anyway but there were many different areas of the adventure. Unfortunately, they were already sold out. Apparently, there is only a few of these perks available to "buy" your way Platinum. We are Loyalty level on another line, and we enjoy it. We only wish that our friends were too. Now with Carnival, we can have our friends come with us when we are Platinum. It is a few that get this perk so it does not bother me. From what we can see, it is going over like gangbusters, so any revenue that keeps the line running inexpensive and efficient is fine with me :)

If you're on Liberty's 9/29 sailing, check again for F2F availability. The members of our roll call noticed that some more slots became available, after F2F bookings on the Shore Excursions page had been taken down temporarily. Not "sold out", but "hold on, we're still getting this excursion sorted out." F2F was again available for "Add To Cart" as of last evening, although there were only a few left.

Several people who had already booked F2F on our sailing got emails from Carnival clarifying the time of the excursion, which was not 8am-9am as originally advertised. I imagine they didn't want a bunch of disgruntled guests arriving at the pier at 7:45am and being told "Uh, the ship won't be cleared for boarding for a few hours yet. Why are you here? Ooops, our bad."

I didn't get one of those emails, so I wanna show up at 8am and demand immediate boarding. They could toss us onboard with the expedite luggage. :)

Incidentally, I booked F2F because my sister is mobility-impaired and priority boarding would be a godsend for her. I'm susceptible to gout, so I won't complain about it either.....

They've cut the colors game too. Almost all the cruise lines I've been on have the marriage game in one form or another.

RCCl are too much like enclosed malls for me.

Maybe the Allure has these things but NONE of the 3 RCCL ships I sailed on had these either so they must be available only on the newest ships. I have seen some good shows on Carnival and like the variety of choices not only within the entire cruise duration but within each evening. I'm willing to bet even the Allure does not offer all of those options you mention EVERY evening (except maybe the parade which I hated as it was too crowded! I couldn't see. I couldn't even breath!) so if you don't care for the ONE big blockbuster event they have planned OR if you don't want to go to bed at 10pm after that ONE blockbuster event then you have only the disco, casino, or maybe one trio someplace. While I think the acrobats and diving would be fun, I would rather pay Branson prices for them than to pay "Allure" prices.

You may not like the Legends show but oddly it is usually packed (more than any other show on Carnival or on other cruise lines I've sailed) so evidently not everyone shares your opinion. Personally I wish they would change the "Legends" or at least the song they sing periodically for more variety.

By the way those "professionals" you enjoy seeing are not always so professional. My neice (with dance training since age 3) worked as an assistant Choreographer for Holland America. She quit and went back to working full time with her dance company in California because she didn't enjoy "dumming down" her choreography to allow non-dancers to perform it. Certainly some of the dancers are excellent but many are just folks with a few years of dance training and they were available cheap.

I'm glad you enjoy all those things the Allure offers and can afford to cruise her but its great that the world has different options for peoples many and varied tastes, priorities, and budgets. :)

So what did they "clarify" the boarding time to be for FTTF?
