What would you like to see added or taken away from a cruise?

With all the talk of laundry rooms, thought I'd share our experience two years ago on Princess. They had a wonderful self-serve laundry room, very large, probably 15 washers, plus dryers, irons and ironing boards ... the whole nine yards. I planned on washing our clothes the last two days of our 11 day cruise. Much to our surprise, those last two days the laundry rooms were locked!!! I'd like to see Celebrity add HEAT to the swimming pools. Even salt water would be tolerable if it were WARM.

The #1 thing I'd like to see taken away is: THE TV SETS. What do we really need to sit in our cabins in front of the boob tube for? I for one, anyway, go out to sea to GET AWAY FROM IT ALL. And TV noise and chatter is one of the prime factors in the "it all" I want to get away from ... ::sigh::

B-Anne, That last morning breakfast can be a hit or miss. I have more sympathy than most having had a job that required organizing banquets. It's a lot of pressure knowing that they have to have the room turned around in a few hours. There is no excuse for rudeness but human nature tells us that as far as the staff is concerned, our cruise is over and they are totally geared twards the arriving passengers. Tofubeast, Is that one of my cats in your avatar???

I would love to see self service laundry too - that way I could pack less stuff!

I love the formal nights, DH hates 'em!

Since we always seem to be on a cold weather cruise, how about tanning salon?

I agree with the heated swimming pools, but disagree with the TV's. I like watching the disembarkation talk and also the shore excursion talks on the TV they provide. I can do that in my room at my leisure rather than going to some talk at an appointed time.

Cruising Chick,

I agree with you about viewing the information in the comfort of my cabin at a time of my own choosing.

I've always thought a laundry facility would be nice on Celebrity's ships especially if they were open 24 hours.

Great topic!

I agree about the t.v. also. I don't watch it, but DH does. He takes less time to get ready than I, so he can watch those important talks for us.

I can never understand wanting to spend time on my vacation, doing laundry? I almost never do! I guess it can help with the packing, though.

For a two week cruise it would be VERY helpful! We are taking a few extra days...so we will have to handwash or pack a zillion clothes.

Brigittetom...I agree it's a hit or miss proposition on the last day for breakfast, however, common courtesy from a wait staff that was practically kissing your behind for the entire previous week should be a given....I realize they're preparing for their new customers, but what about the returning customers, as well?? Or do they think we were all on this cruise as a one time deal???

Having worked many years in the service industry myself, knowing what it takes to be successful in the business, I felt slighted to have been treated in this manner...B

B-Anne, That's what I meant about hit or miss. We haven't had anyone be rude to us but it certainly isn't the warm and fuzzy service you get used to during the cruise. I don't think that will ever change.

I like Celebrity just the way it is.
There is only one thing I'd like to see taken away and that's any rude people on the ship. It's also a downer to hear people endlessly complain about everything.
