moondusterr Posted August 10, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 10, 2012 I asked in a previous thread if the pools were ready to swim in when you board the ship. Everyone answered "yes." I did not specify New Orleans. I Was talking to some family and they told me of all the cruises they have been on out of New Orleans they don't fill the pool with water until they sail in the gulf of Mexico. I need a reliable answer because I was planning on having my family just wear bathing suits and cover ups when we get on the ship. I won't if the pool is drained. Thanks. Greatescapes Posted August 10, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 10, 2012 We sailed on the Triumph out of NOLA and I believe they had water in them but not full.... The ship makes several twists and turns coming down the river before hitting the gulf (which takes quiet a while to navigate). I don't remember seeing anyone swimming then... but that was a few cruises back.
Herfnerd Posted August 10, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 10, 2012 Just looked at a photo I took of the pool area on the Elation while we were in line for the Mongolian Grill on the Lido right after we embarked and it was full - this was just this past May. RWolver672 Posted August 10, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 10, 2012 I think the time of year has a lot to do with it too. We cruised out of NOLA on the Conquest in February, 2003 and it was closed then on embarkation day. The temps were only in the fifties that day. The next morning they were full already and it was warm enough to swim.
moondusterr Posted August 10, 2012 Author #5 Share Posted August 10, 2012 Thanks everyone. Probably the best thing to do is to pack our suits in the carry-on. I'm sailing tommorow and I guess I am obsessing over things. Now I'm going to obsess over if I feel like lugging a cooler on.
terryinal Posted August 10, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 10, 2012 I don't cruise in the summer but in Jan. and Sept. most times the pools are ready to go.But I have seen them empty also. But I would think in the summer they are full.
adamsfly Posted August 10, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 10, 2012 It was filled for our cruise July 1st. By the time we made it up to the Lido deck, people were enjoying the pool and hot tubs. Enjoy your cruise!
arkansascruising Posted August 12, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 12, 2012 When we cruised out of NO last September, they did not fill the pool until we were at sea. We was on the Ecstasy!
