Snorkel guy 35 Posted August 11, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 11, 2012 On Wednesday August 8, we lost our Canon Powershot underwater camera in Kona. It is blue and silver and somewhat bulky. It was in a black hard case. It was lost somewhere between the cruise ship pier and Coconut Grove Market Place in downtown Kailua-Kona. The Pride of America was in port so a passenger may have found my camera. The pictures are EXTREMELY sentimental to my wife. If you or anyone you know found this camera please contact me at mtcdn@live.ca. Mahalo

Boomer 123 Posted August 12, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 12, 2012 Was there any identifying photo's in the camera that would help someone get it back to you? Like a cell phone number.
willysgrandma Posted August 12, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 12, 2012 Sorry this happened. DH had his camera stolen at a resort, so I know just how you feel. I hope you will have some success in getting it back - I've seen things more unusual happen on the boards.
Snorkel guy 35 Posted August 12, 2012 Author #6 Share Posted August 12, 2012 There were many turtle photos, a shark and many from New Years Eve in Vietnam (earlier pics). Many pictures of my wife's family (Asian).
jame_g Posted August 12, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 12, 2012 This doesn't help the OP now, but... For digital cameras it can be a good idea to take a photo of a sheet of paper that lists your name and phone number or email address in big, bold, clear letters. That way if the person who finds it browses through your photos, they will see how to contact you. I wouldn't include contact information that you don't want someone to have though. On many cameras you can do this once and protect the photo so that it doesn't get deleted. I did this on our last cruise. Need to remember to do it again on our next cruise since I did delete it! trouble1964 Posted August 13, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 13, 2012 There is a website called Ifoundyourcamera.net where honest people who find memory cards or cameras will post identifiable pictures in the hopes of reuniting them with their owner. You might try checking that.

I do the same thing except that I just take a photo of the info on my computer screen. :D There is a website called Ifoundyourcamera.net where honest people who find memory cards or cameras will post identifiable pictures in the hopes of reuniting them with their owner. You might try checking that. Neat web site. I'll have to give it to my friend who recently found an underwater camera while treasure hunting in the water at the beach. It still had photo's on it but no other identifiable information. He usually returns items if there's some way of finding the person. ie school rings with engraved initials. Snorkel guy 35 Posted August 13, 2012 Author #10 Share Posted August 13, 2012 Great site, thanks. I went there but my camera has not yet surfaced. I hope some honest soul has found it.

I do something similar, I take a photo of me holding a piece of paper with my email address written on it in large print. I hope you get your camera back!
