Waverunner rentals...questions...

We would love to rent a waverunner when we go to GC here in 2 weeks. Are we better off just walking off the ship and finding a place to rent? We are renting a jeep already to head to rum point for the afternoon.

What has been your experience...? I found one site that rented them for $65 for half an hour...I think that is outrageous. I would not pay that to rent one for that little time. I did find another site that would rent for 4 hours for $160 but I wasn't clear on the location.

all help appreciated,

Esmerelda

With the exception of Stingray sandbar tours, bargains are hard to come by in Grand Cayman. $65/half hour seems to be the market rate. If you find a rate much different, I would question whether it was in Cayman dollars or US dollars. If Cayman, the US price is 25% higher.

Contact Red Sail Sports for wave runner rentals. They have several locations all throughout Grand Cayman including the Hyatt Regency, the Westin, Marriott, Holiday Inn, Indies Suites, and Rum Point.

Their website is http://www.redsailcayman.com and you can email them at:

infocayman@redsailcayman.com

They are a well established and reputable outfit.

Taking prices from their brochure:

Waverrunners are $65 per half hour.

Waverunner Snorkel Safari which includes snorkeling equipment for 1 1/2 hours is $85 for single, $135 for double.

They have all kinds of other water sports to choose from as well.

We spend the day in Rum Point and saw their facility there. Very professional, equipment was in great condition.

Have an awesome trip.

  • 2 weeks later...

Believe it or not I was at Sea Grape last week and they had coupons for $20.00 off a waverunner rental! Don't know if it was just a weekly promotion or if it is a summer thing but that made the rental price $45.00, which was pretty affordable.

:)
