Recommended Posts

bumping for susie...

Nice shoes....

We have a fifteen day cruise coming up and with myself being such a clothes and shoe whore ....this is going to be sooooo hard. If I could...I would bring 15 dresses with shoes and purses to match  I know, I know, I have an illness....lol

We can go back and forth all day...but I just need to say that my statement was not critical AT ALL....If anything....I was making fun of MYSELF for being ridiculous with an insane packing list.

I ADMIRE the people that can pack lightly.....:o

Exactly how I feel...no harm intended

I did find the statement critical, i am not a dirty smelly person, I am also not into clothes or shoes. I do not need to dress for work, I drive special needs school bus, so dresses and dress shoes are not a great idea when crawling around hooking up wheelchairs. As you can see by my name I love hockey too chilly in an arena for a dress.... :p The only time you will see me in one is at my work christmas party and the formal night on a cruise. I dont see the need for 10 different pair of dress shoes either.... but thats just me.

On this cruise we have 9 days, but we are flying in on Spirit and they have a 40lb limit, so we need to fit what we can into one suitcase each. And I did not pay extra for a carry on, so this should be challenging.

Hubby will bring one pair jeans, one pair dress pants, 4 dress shirts 4 tshirts and 3 swim/ shorts. and possibly a tie.

I am sorry you found my statement critical. My statement was not to share my packing list because it is insane. How in the world do you get "dirty and smelly people" out of that????? Why are you putting words in my mouth that do not exist? If I choose to over pack and love clothes and shoes (and many people on this thread have agreed to being the same way), then that is my prerogative, just as the people that pack lightly is theirs. (and I stated that I admire them).

Why are you not condemning everyone else on this thread that are the same way calling light packers dirty and smelly??? YOUR words, not mine. I respect all of the people on this thread with their opinions and have not called anyone out on anything they have said. Everyone is different. You are the one that called light packers dirty and smelly. Why?

I'm doing a 5 day next week, but we usually do 7 days. For my and my kids, we do 1 carry on each. I used the rolling method for folding and it gave me more room to either pack more clothes or for souvenir space.

I packed an outfit for each day:

shorts and shirts for them

capris and dresses for me

2 long pants each for them for MDR (no formal clothes this time, they want to skip it)

Underwear and socks

Flips flops

Sneakers

Toiletries

I also utilize the laundry service about 2/3 of the way into the cruise.

The first time you'll most likely overpack. The next time you cruise, you'll adjust it with a better idea. Good luck and have fun!

I agree. After sitting in the sun or sitting in the casino, no way would I wear the same top/pants again. And I hope the other 4,499 new best friends of mine on the ship also do me the same favor. :)

I admit, I am an over packer. I like options. I pack by the day. I will plan out the cruise in my head. For example, Day one is a sea day, I will wear my swim suit, cover-up, and I will need my formal dress for dinner. Day 2 is Belize. I am zip lining. I will wear my shorts and T-shirt. For dinner that night i will wear this dress, etc. Plus I will usually pack a couple extra outfits, jeans, a sweater for inside (the a/c can get cold), etc. I do try to limit my shoes. I bring 1 dress pair, 1 causal sandal, 1 beach flip flops, and wear my tennis shoes on.

I personally do not like wearing my clothes more than once on a cruise for the most part. While in the outside areas of the ship I tend to get sweaty since it is so hot. Plus you get that saltiness on your skin and clothes. Night isn't so bad though.

I would love to be a light packer...would LOVE it, but it's not in my genes. We are going on a 4 night on the Imagination. Simple, right?? A carry on each.

But, we're staying in Miami for 5 days....and hubby (who is worse at this packing thing than me) says "No, we're taking a large bag". So now, it's a carry-on each + one large bag.

We're the ones who always look like they're moving on to the ship permanently...

I don't think anyone was trying to insult anyone else. I do tend to over pack, but I also sweat a lot so my clothes tend to get dirty fast. Plus, I'm admittedly a little vain and don't want to be seen in the same thing twice (hey, I'm single, sue me!).

I would love it if I could be disciplined and plan outfits and figure out how to make a limited wardrobe work...it's just not in me though!
