Kartgv Posted August 20, 2012 #26 Share Posted August 20, 2012 First, on the topic of scanners....When we interited boxes and boxes of family photos going back almost a hundred years, we bought a little scanner from Brookstone that attaches to your laptop with a USB cable. It uses a small memory card and will scan photos up to a little over 4" wide. Each scan takes just a few seconds, then you upload from the card to your laptop where you can edit, label, etc. Very nifty device - cost about $100. I've done hundreds of photos with it and am very happy with it! Now, a few more photos: This is the Starward in Port Antonio, Jamaica in 1977. Notice the "crowds". This is cabin 649 on the Starward. The mattress was thin and lumpy and the air conditioner mounted on the shelf under the window was noisy and not too efficient! Here's the Lido Lounge, our favorite hangout, at least until we ran them out of Jack Daniels. Next is the Fairwind, 1986. These were the Fairwind's lifeboats/tenders. Each was supposed to hold 50 passengers. Far from the larger, covered boats in use today! Finally - one of my favorite all-time shots. Woke up early on the morning of July 4, 1988, on the Constitution which went around the Hawaiian Islands. I was just in time to catch a crewmember putting out the flag, with a gorgeous sunrise in the background. Wish they still did all the flags like they used to! websailor Posted September 30, 2012 #31 Share Posted September 30, 2012 Gosh it almost hurts to call these cruises "old", but it sure was different way back when..... in the first case a 1988 (or '89) Caribbean cruise on the Dawn Princess (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/RMS_Sylvania) - several ships of that name back. http://www.websailor.org/gallery/v/Cruises/Eastern_Caribbean_1988/ And an Alaska cruise on the same ship a little while later http://www.websailor.org/gallery/v/Cruises/Alaska_Cruise_1990/ I usually take a lot of pictures but there are some of the ship in these albums. Please ignore the way we dressed :o
