darleen1421 Posted August 23, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 23, 2012 What is the attire for the formal nights for the Oosterdam Alaska Explorer cruises. When I went four years ago it was less formal than on other routes. Husband hates to have to bring a suit.
dakrewser Posted August 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2012 The dress rules are the same for all HAL cruises. Go to the web site, click on "Know before you go" and read what it says about dress. Note that on formal nights should you not want to meet the minimum suggestion you could always eat in the Lido (always casual) or order a full meal thru room service. PathfinderEss Posted August 23, 2012 #3 Share Posted August 23, 2012 Here you go, Evening dress falls into two distinct categories: Formal or Smart Casual. Smart Casual can be defined as slacks and collared shirts for men and casual dresses, slacks and informal evening wear for women. T-shirts, swimsuits, tank tops and shorts are not allowed in the restaurants or public areas during the evening hours. On festive Formal evenings, ladies may wear a suit, cocktail dress, gown or fancy blouse/top with slacks and gentlemen wear a jacket and tie, dark suit or tuxedo. TheCityMouse Posted August 27, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 27, 2012 We just got back from an Alaska cruise on Statendam. Every man that I saw on formal night was wearing a jacket and tie, most in suits, some in tuxedos. It was more formal than I expected for Alaska.
