ALB0711 Posted August 23, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 23, 2012 We are doing 2 nights at the IC pre-cruise next June and have decided to simply enjoy the IC bungalow and recover from the long flights. We've also got a day when the ship returns, and will rent a car and site see then.

Escriteur Posted August 23, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 23, 2012 We did the IC Tahiti pre-cruise stay in an overwater bungalow during our trip last month. We arrived on a Thursday evening, and were happy to just spend Friday relaxing at the hotel. We swam in the pool and lagoonarium, relaxed on the deck of our bungalow, and had a few drinks at the tiki bar. We also attended the dinner show Friday evening. That's what I'd recommend doing; after the long flight and time change, you're better off giving yourself a day to relax and unwind, especially if you have an ambitious schedule of excursions on the cruise. Tikiintahiti Posted August 23, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 23, 2012 Keep in mind that the Le Truck (bus) picks up and drops off right in front of the IC. $3 bucks and your in town for the marche, roulottes etc. Heck, for 3 bucks you coan say on Le Truck and go all around the island
ALB0711 Posted August 24, 2012 #6 Share Posted August 24, 2012 Can you really go all around the island for $3? Sounds like an adventure. How long would it take?
Tikiintahiti Posted August 24, 2012 #7 Share Posted August 24, 2012 Yes you can, $3 bucks. You can grab the bus right in front of the IC. You might need to make a quick transfer, just tell the driver what you want to do, they will point you in the right direction. Should take about 1.5 - 2.0 hours to go around Tahiti Nui (the large part of the island). You might want to ask the Concierge at the hotel to point you in the right direction. Rare Familygoboston Posted August 25, 2012 #8 Share Posted August 25, 2012 Do you think the Le Trucks are pretty safe, Tiki? We hired a driver in Ecuador and were very glad we did when we saw a local bus over on its side on a curvy road, and we're told it happens frequently ( bad brakes, going too fast, and in Africa we were warned that some drivers drink or drug) Did you feel things were safe, or is this a matter of "being willing to risk it".
