fwsportsnut Posted August 26, 2012 #1 Share Posted August 26, 2012 Any suggetsions on siling from NOLA on the same day as Saints game. Better to stay on West Bank? Wait until after noon? Any help appreciated.
jgmpuma Posted August 26, 2012 #2 Share Posted August 26, 2012 We have sailed on game days in the past, and the game has always been on the ship's TV. Lots of Saints fans on board. Just time your boarding so that you will be on by the time it starts.
fwsportsnut Posted August 26, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted August 26, 2012 Game is at noon so is it better to wait until 12:30 or so to get to the port since 90 goes right by stadium? Don't want to get caught in traffic.
rvsullivan Posted August 26, 2012 #4 Share Posted August 26, 2012 We've found that hotel prices double or triple on game weekend. Since we usually come in a day early it really has an impact. Traffic can be a nightmare depending on how your coming into town. If I were driving into town on game day, I would come in very early and find someplace to hang out. If it's a day game, traffic can be miserable from about 10 to 1 pm or so, night game is no problem except hotel rooms.
cmpo Posted August 27, 2012 #5 Share Posted August 27, 2012 Any suggetsions on siling from NOLA on the same day as Saints game. Better to stay on West Bank? Wait until after noon? Any help appreciated. From my experience, traffic on game day (on I-10) is pretty much non existent around noonish (kickoff).. I drive a shuttle that way (I-10 westbound) every Sunday of the year; 9:45-10:15am & about 12:10-12:30pm and have never had to sit in traffic. (unless its mardi gras weekend). But in short, it depends on what time you plan on getting to the port. In short, to play things safe, the West Bank or staying downtown (in walking distance to the port) is your best chance of avoiding traffic imo.
