cruzincurt Posted May 18, 2005 #27 Share Posted May 18, 2005 Good timing, six of us couples head out on the Sovereign this Friday. Don't think we will be on the beach Sunday at Coco Cay. Maybe we'll head north to Charleston? That would be a nice change. We were originally booked to to go last weekend (when it was nice) but moved a week later due to one couple's son deciding to get married last weekend. As Cruise Director for the group, I've already told them it's NOT my fault! But I am hoping for an open bar due to the weather!
ald3114 Posted May 19, 2005 #28 Share Posted May 19, 2005 Hello, It was on the news last night that the hurricane outlook for this year was higher than the past year. See the attached report from the hurricane outlook center. http://www.cpc.ncep.noaa.gov/products/outlooks/hurricane2005/May/hurricane.html:eek:

laurasue Posted May 19, 2005 #30 Share Posted May 19, 2005 I just hope to brake even in the casino or a free key chain Heck, as long as the bars are open, I'll be a happy enough camper. Who needs snorkeling anyhow :p
rccruisers Posted May 19, 2005 #31 Share Posted May 19, 2005 LauraSue...one thing to remember, hold off booking your excursion for snorkeling if you think the weather might be bad. If it rains, the water is not clear and snorkeling still goes on, regardless. But, if they cancel the port, you will get your money refunded to you on any excursion. I will keep my fingers crossed for all you that are cruising..sunny weather and smooth sailing!

Talk about timing :) I've snorkeled some just after rain, it's not nearly as fun.
Sunny AZ Girl Posted May 19, 2005 #34 Share Posted May 19, 2005 We're going to be on the EOS this Sunday & will be in Belize on Tuesday, so we're watching this storm carefully. It looks like it will be well past us, but with weather, you never know! My Mom lives near Tampa & her nerves were shot after last season. I think if this year is a repeat we may get her to move out to AZ with us after all! I hope for the sake of all you Floridians it's not. (Although I do want Mom to move!) On the NOAA track it looks like the storm will be between us and our destination on Sunday night.....supposed to be in Labadee Monday AM. I'm hoping they reverse the itinerary. Rare TPKeller Posted May 19, 2005 #37 Share Posted May 19, 2005 Adrian has just become a hurricane. Remember, this is a Pacific storm, not an Atlantic storm. So at least initially this won't count in the Atlantic records. Not sure what they do if it maintains or redevelops tropical storm strength on the other side. disneygirl2 Posted May 19, 2005 #38 Share Posted May 19, 2005 All travelers, found this web-stie that seems to have a good plotting course of the storm. http://forecast.mssl.ucl.ac.uk/shadow/tracker/dynamic/200501E_2.html We are setting sail on Sun. (with SunnyAZ) and we are really hoping that the winds, and water will have calmed down by the time we set sail.

CruizenSuzen Posted May 19, 2005 #41 Share Posted May 19, 2005 I saw on the weather channel last night how the name changes if it crosses land into the Atlantic. If the storm warnings never go away, it keeps it original name, Adrian. if the Storm warnings go away over land and it reforms in the Atlantic, it will become Arlene. Don't worry, someone's thought about it.
Guest OBAYbee Posted May 20, 2005 #42 Share Posted May 20, 2005 I wonder what we will do if the National Weather Service goes black? Would you subscribe online to get the weather forecast for your cruise? If not, any ideas about what and where we could go should that bill pass? PVDCruiser Posted May 24, 2005 #47 Share Posted May 24, 2005 Supposedly, they want to elimate the NWS local forecasts, but keep the severe weather alerts. I think it's being proposed by someone in PA - where Accuweather is based (I believe) - go figure!
