MamaParrotHead Posted May 18, 2005 #1 Share Posted May 18, 2005 I've been reading the Valor reviews, talking about the present crew's contract being up "soon" and wondered if anyone knew when that might be? thanks. :)

ElCruiso Posted May 18, 2005 #3 Share Posted May 18, 2005 They've already started transitioning, different Crew members have different Contracts. Some 6 mo. , some 8 mo., and some 9 mo. . They don't all pack up and leave at the same time. I know they have changed Cruise Directors(Unfortunatly), Josh is Gone. The Captain on the Valor is an exceptional Master of the ship, he is knowledgable in all, he was with the ship as it was being built. Pretty much the whole Valor Crew are quite exceptional I believe most are the cream of the Carnival Crop of Employees. As the Liberty will have a hand picked Crew also I presume. It's not by accident that new ships have good Crews. I'm sure the replacements will be pretty much of equal quality. The Valor is a beautiful Ship with lots of room and many places for one to enjoy themselves. ENJOY !!! And HAPPY CRUISING.
Ineedavacation2 Posted May 18, 2005 #4 Share Posted May 18, 2005 We were on the Valor May 1-8...our room steward was going home when we were....his contract was up and he was going to see his family for awhile. We had Brent Mitchell as a cruise director--he was new...he wasn't terrific but he wasn't HORRIBLE either. (we were hoping for Josh because we heard such good reviews about him) Our waiter was going to be on the ship for awhile (Lincoln Dining room---Pitak) in fact he has a wife that works in the Eagles Lounge...btw...Pitak was terrific! I guess what I'm trying to say is they all leave at different times. Our group of 25 people found the staff to be excellent...I've read so many reviews (both negative and positive)...its hard to believe some of these people were on our same cruise and had such a bad experience. Our captain was actually the same captain we had on our very first cruise to Alaska in 2001...we knew we were in good hands! :)
llanning Posted May 18, 2005 #5 Share Posted May 18, 2005 The crew doesn't necessarily remain on the same ship throughout their contract. They can be moved to another ship depending on staffing needs.
CrazyMums Posted May 18, 2005 #6 Share Posted May 18, 2005 We were on the Valor in February. Our dining team was hoping for a transfer to the Liberty and one of the casino hosts had already been notified of a transfer to the Liberty. Our dining team also told us that the chef was "practicing" a different menu that he would be using on the Liberty. I agree that the majority of the crew are/were the cream of the crop and wouldn't be surprised if many of them are routinely transferred to the new ships. Piano Man Ron Posted May 23, 2005 #7 Share Posted May 23, 2005 I'm an entertainer for CCL. Every single week there are some crew that leave the ship and others who come on board to take their places. Some go to other ships, some go home for a short work break, others go home for a long vacation. Crew turnover is a constant. Yes, the company reserves the right to move crew from ship to ship as needed, but would only do so for good reason, such as departmental needs, etc. Contract legths differ GREATLY depending on position and individual circumstances. Hope this helps. Ron
BettyB2 Posted May 23, 2005 #8 Share Posted May 23, 2005 Wow Ron - nice website you have there! Would love to hear you play and wish all cruiseship entertainers had websites..... I will be checking your upcoming schedule for 2006 and look to book a group cruise on one of your sailings.....we are from upstate NY - Rochester area....that could be fun!!! It just so happened on our Conquest cruise that both our head waitress HELEN and her assistant Marcos both were having their last night on the ship after 8 MONTHS at sea.......would love to see both of them again too.......
