how to get to Dover from Paris

Hello everyone,

Here is my plan:

Fly from Montreal to Paris. Do 3 days in Paris then get to Dover for Baltic cruise.

 

Is this feasible? How do I get to Dover? Train, plane, ferry, bus???

approximate cost and time?

I would take the Eurostar to Ashford International (2 hours) in England and taxi from there (30 minutes by taxi).

The prices on Rail Europe are in US dollars. So cheaper than you thought! A 30 minute taxi ride will be approximately 45 pounds. Also you can check the Eurostar website as well.

Should I book Eurostar ahead of time? If so, how long ahead?

I think the sooner the better. If your trip is a long way off they may not even have released those dates yet.

You could get to Dover the old fashioned way, train to Calais and ferry to Dover. Trains are fairly frequent to Calais from Gard du Nord and the P & O lines have hourly ferry service to from Calais to Dover. This used to be the best way to travel from London to Paris before the Chunnel, but the train ferry combination still works. I do not remember if there is still a free bus from the Calais train station to the ferry terminal, but it is not a long cab ride. Two years ago we did this route because we wanted to stop at a mega store in Calais before we went on to the Southeast. I think it was much cheaper than the Eurostar.
