cruisinhotmamma Posted September 14, 2012 #1 Share Posted September 14, 2012 We are wanting to hit a local bar before boarding the ship? Any recommendations? Thanks.
DebbieMH Posted September 15, 2012 #2 Share Posted September 15, 2012 There are bars everywhere in new Orleans, including the mall right next to the terminal.
cruisinhotmamma Posted September 15, 2012 Author #3 Share Posted September 15, 2012 I know there are lots of bars in NOLA. I was hoping for a recommendation on a really good one that we just needed to hit. Thank you for your help.
jgmpuma Posted September 15, 2012 #4 Share Posted September 15, 2012 New Orleans has lots of great bars, but nothing much happens during the day. No music. If you just want to have a quick pop before boarding you can, as the previous poster suggested, get a drink from one of the bars in the Riverwalk, find a table on the balcony overlooking the river, and watch the ships go by. curcurt Posted September 25, 2012 #5 Share Posted September 25, 2012 Try Lucy's Retired Surfers Bar & Restaurant at 701 Tchoupitoulas.
catfuzz Posted September 30, 2012 #6 Share Posted September 30, 2012 Rio Mar is a neat Mediterranean restaurant with a fantastic bar and great food on Julia St. about two blocks from Convention Blvd. Across the street from the Marriott Courtyard and the Embassy Suites. nbp Posted September 30, 2012 #7 Share Posted September 30, 2012 There is also Fulton Street that has Gordon Bierch Brewery, Grand Isle Restaurant, Ernst Cafe, Manning's Restaurant and Ruth Chris Steakhouse. They all have nice inside bars and patio bars and are open for lunch. It is a nice area to people watch, it is a pedestrian roadway, no cars. Pull up Fulton Street Square, I hope this helps! Sargent_Schultz Posted October 8, 2012 #8 Share Posted October 8, 2012 Don't know how early they open or if they might still be open from the night before http://www.thehowlinwolf.com/
ame_legere Posted December 5, 2012 #9 Share Posted December 5, 2012 I would also suggest Lucy's on Tchoupitoulas. The last time I was there, if you drank a shot of tequila with the worm they gave you a free t-shirt.
Mango Tango Posted December 9, 2012 #10 Share Posted December 9, 2012 I would also suggest Lucy's on Tchoupitoulas. The last time I was there, if you drank a shot of tequila with the worm they gave you a free t-shirt. We're staying right across the street at the Renaissance Hotel. I'm looking forward to going to Lucy's...but I think I'll skip the worm. :p
