Packing for Venice to Rome 9/28-10/6?

I am monitoring the weather in Venice in late September (rain in forecast--yuk) but want to know if Croatia (Split, Pula, etc) will be cool or warm? I am confused about what to pack--esp. since we now need to "pack light" for air travel. Any helpful info appreciated!

Windstar does offer a Laundry package for $109 a week per cabin if you have to pack two kinds of clothes. I would pack clothes that I can Layer.
