Venice hotel to airport - will we make it?

I am staying at hotel Antiche figure in Venice. My flight next morning is at 6:35 am. My hotel said I can leave and take the 5:00 am by shuttle bus from Piazzale Roma. Will this get us on time to the airport? Should I cancel my hotel and book near the Airport? What hotel would you guys recommend? Appreciate any help anyone can provide. Any other transportation option from hotel to airport?

Where are you flying to? If outside the EU maybe not. 5:00 bus gets you to the airport around 5:30, one hour before your flight. Usually two hours is the recommended time to be at the airport before your flight. Lighter crowds this early in the morning, but what day of the week? This airport can get real busy and congested with delays at the ticket counter and thru security.

 

How far is P. Roma from your hotel? Factor in the walk to get there by 5:00.

 

Your other options are scheduled boat service to VCE and water taxis which will run earlier, but much more expensive.

 

Is a later flight an option? If not, suggest a hotel on the mainland near the airport and arrange a land taxi the night before for the next morning to VCE

Can you change your flight? This whole thing seems like a dreadfully unpleasant experience for any number of reasons.

Folks appreciate your response. Flight time is not an option. The walk P. Roma is about 10 minutes, I have been told. Never been to Venice. I am also told Airport does not open until 5 or so. My flight is out of the US. Any hotel recommendations near the airport?? I would like to spend the day in Venice though. We may take a water taxi at 4 in the morning. How much do you guys think it wil cost?

Airport water taxi will be about 120 Euros. Get a quote from the hotel and have them arrange it for you.
