vivienne-j Posted April 28, 2004 #1 Share Posted April 28, 2004 Folks We're in Monte Carlo / Monaco with Star Princess this summer, and my sport-mad hubby and son would like to drive round the grand prix circuit a couple of times, as it's a proper "road race", rather than a track. Does anyone know if there's a way of doing this, or if taxis will do this? Thanks Vivienne 27 July 04 - Princess Star - Mediterranean
Mike Andrews Posted April 28, 2004 #2 Share Posted April 28, 2004 Hi Vivenne, Sounds like a fun thing to do for an enthusiast and a taxi ride would be a good way of doing it. WWW.monaco.mc/monaco/gprix/index.html gives you information on the route of the race. Mike
vivienne-j Posted May 3, 2004 Author #3 Share Posted May 3, 2004 Thanks Mike - I'll take the map with me, though I'm sure the taxi drivers will know it! 27 July 04 - Princess Star - Mediterranean
stingraynz Posted May 10, 2004 #4 Share Posted May 10, 2004 We were just in Monaco last week from a port stop in Cannes. I am also very interested in the F1 track. We took a tour with Alain from Dream Tours E-mail: infos@dream-tours.com. They have an office right in Monaco so they are very well versed in anything to do with the Grand Prix. Frederick was our guide. They are just getting everything set up for the race in a few weeks. The track is the only one or one of the only ones that is right on the streets of the town. That's why it's such a big deal. You will certainly be able to get all your souvenirs and trinkets and F1 stuff everywhere. And any private car driver or tour guide will take you on a drive around the streets that make up the track. We found the best souvenir shop (price and selection) was the Prince's souvenir shop up near the Castle. It was funny because I would exepected it to be over priced but it was better and nicer than some fo the other places. have fun there!
dbh62ark Posted May 14, 2004 #5 Share Posted May 14, 2004 stingraynz, we were just there on May 5 and used Dream Tours too. We had Jean-Marc for a driver, and he was great. Donna
Mike Andrews Posted May 22, 2004 #6 Share Posted May 22, 2004 The race is tomorrow Sunday, I would like to know what the atmosphere is like and is it difficult to get around if anyone is in the area. Mike
uk1 Posted May 22, 2004 #7 Share Posted May 22, 2004 You will be able to walk around it faster than you can drive around it. A possibility is to chat up a taxi driver and see whether a 3am drive might do it. The real problem is that there are more policeman and CCTV in Monaco than any where else in the world.
