cruisinmama! Posted October 18, 2012 #1 Share Posted October 18, 2012 Hi, We will be traveling in a group with our 17 month old son and several of us are interested in perhaps signing up for a Dolphin Encounter in Nassau. And supposedly infants and toddlers can participate because it is done on a platform and not in open water like a swim. However, before we make a decision, has anyone ever done one of thee with such a little one? Would you recommend it at all? I have no problem staying behind and just playing the observer with him instead from the beach/dock, but if it is something he would enjoy I would do it. Any thoughts or experiences from any parents out there that may have participated in one of these or at least seen one in action?
crusinmama06 Posted October 19, 2012 #2 Share Posted October 19, 2012 Yep we've done it a few times. As long as the excursion age allows it - then you can do it. It's expensive - of course. But the pictures are priceless. You would hold the baby. You walk into the pool and stand on a large platform. The dolphin swims up to you. By the way - I like your screen name ;) I had to do a double take lol

Mom2B&Z Posted October 19, 2012 #5 Share Posted October 19, 2012 We did the Blue Lagoon dolphin encounter in Nassau when DS2 had just turned 3 yrs. He is normally an adventurous kid, but he was quite scared of the dolphins. The encounter was about 30 minutes long, and he only started warming up to them in the last 10 minutes or so. We stood on the platform and held him, but they are pretty big :). However, he still talks fondly about the experience :D
