looking for beach opinions

It all depends on what you're looking for... Check out some of the other threads on here - there's lots of information.

Someone even posted a link to an interactive map that gives a brief description of many beaches on the island.

The altantic side is rugged with larger waves, the west side is calm and the south is a mix of both.

Mullins is on the west side north of B'Town, Carlisle is on the west side south of B'Town and Maxwell is on the south coast, south of The Gap, about 20 minutes or so from B'Town.

Cheers, P:)

We were on a land only trip and found.....

Mullins was a very beautiful beach populated with the upper crust vacationers from the Royal Westmorland. ("It's four o'clock Lovey. Where's our tea?").

Carlisle is a large beach (much larger than just Boat Yard and Lobster Alive. Get out there and walk the beach. The whole bay is beautiful. Since we were there with no cruise ships in town, we had the whole bay pretty much to ourselves. This also means that when you are there you will be there with your own kind (Cruies passengers -vesus- locals and land only).

My suggestion (if you are looking for adventure, beauty and real Barbados) get out there to obscure, little known beaches and away from tourist stuff.

Because however physically beautiful Barbados is (and it is spectacular), it's true beauty is in its people. Get out there and meet them.
